[Abstract]:Pro-social behavior is one of the most concerned psychological topics among teenagers. Previous studies have shown that parental attachment is a predictor of adolescents' pro-social behavior, and self-control plays an intermediary role in parental attachment and other variables such as depression. In adolescence, parental attachment is gradually replaced by peer attachment. This study assumes that peer attachment is associated with prosocial behavior, with self-control as an intermediary, and is conducted in three different statistical ways. In the first study, we used questionnaires to measure peer attachment and pro-social behavior, and two methods, questionnaire and behavioral experiment, to measure self-control in 460 adolescents in Guangzhou. Independent sample T test and path analysis were used to process the data. The results showed that peer attachment had gender difference, that peer attachment was positively correlated with pro-social behavior, and self-control was measured by questionnaire and behavioral experiment. The self-control of questionnaire measurement plays a significant role in mediating the relationship between peer attachment and pro-social behavior, but self-control in behavioral experiments does not play an intermediary role. The second study followed the method of study one, only measured self-control by questionnaire, and compared 760 adolescent families with different evaluation methods through self-report and others' report version of pro-social behavior. The results showed that self-control played a significant role in mediating between peer attachment and self-evaluation of pro-social behavior, but not in peer attachment and father's evaluation and mother's evaluation of pro-social behavior. Study 3 followed the design of study 1 and study 2, using questionnaire method to measure self-control, only using self-reported pro-social behavior. 1598 adolescents aged 11-14 years from 11 to 14 years old in China and Italy were tested to verify the hypothesis of the study. The results showed that peer attachment was positively correlated with prosocial behavior, and could be applied in both Chinese and Italian cultural environments. The results show that peer attachment is positively related to pro-social behavior, and self-control is the medium. This model is applicable to the cultural background of China and Italy under the self-report questionnaire. This study provides the basis for expanding the cultivation of prosocial behavior under the influence of peer attachment and self-control, and extends the cross-cultural psychological research.
