【摘要】：汤玛士桑维尔.库柏撰写的《一个留辫子穿马褂的商业先锋的旅行记》被收录到“中国研究”外文旧籍汇刊中。“中国研究”系列收录研究中国政治、经济、宗教、哲学、文化、外交、社会、军事等各类著作。全书共十五章,主要介绍了十九世纪下半叶汤玛士桑维尔.库柏与其随从在中国西南地区的所见所闻,并逐一克服百姓敌对、物资匮乏、天气恶劣等多重阻碍,继续勇往直前的历程。笔者在翻译该文本的基础上完成了本次翻译实践报告,主要负责第十章至第十一章内容的翻译任务,约1.56万字。本翻译实践报告主要由五部分组成,第一部分是引言,其中包括项目介绍、项目意义与要求及报告结构;第二部分为译前准备,主要包括对原作者及原文本的介绍、原文本的语言特点分析、参考文献及平行文本的阅读、翻译难点及质量控制等;第三部分主要介绍了彼特·纽马克的语义翻译与交际翻译理论;第四部分主要以彼特纽马克的语义翻译与交际翻译理论为指导进行案例分析;最后是对此次翻译实践任务的总结。本报告以彼特.纽马克的语义翻译与交际翻译理论为指导。与此同时,笔者在翻译过程中通过运用多种翻译方法及技巧,力求精准而通畅地向译语读者传达原文的内容。在具体的翻译实践中,主要讨论了专有名词及其它名词、长难句、状语从句与修辞句和语篇等的翻译,其中用到了直译、意译、添加注释、调整语序与简化句子结构等方法与技巧。本翻译实践报告的目的在于探索游记文本的翻译策略和方法,以期对后来学者研究此类文献的翻译提供一定的帮助。
