[Abstract]:When it comes to African films, people tend to focus on more mature West and South African films, but few on Somali films that play an important role in the history of African films. Since the independence of Somalia, Somali films have been mainly driven by post-colonial theory and pan-Africanism, producing world-renowned film texts that reflect the unique culture of Somalia and the social, political, economic and other important issues of the whole African continent. Soon after, the coup d'茅 tat and chaos in Somalia left Somali directors and filmmakers scattered around the world, and Somalia's film industry became inextricably linked. Since then, the image of Somalia in the mainstream media surrounding the negative issues of war, famine, and other issues has puzzled the Somali people scattered around the world at the beginning of the 21st century. "Somaliwood", born in Columbus, Ohio, balances the Western narration of Somali popular culture in Western films and tries to redeem public opinion by making and selling films in the new era. Today, Somali films in cities around the world, such as Nairobi, Cape Town, London and Columbus, continue to analyze historical trauma and think about cultural dislocation, of course. There is also a deep reflection on the identity of the national contradictions after the disintegration of the nation. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the Somali film texts and to understand the development history of Somali films from their colonial roots to the current discrete state.
