[Abstract]:Taste is an important sensory system that human beings are born with and depend on for survival. Taste experience can play an important role in personality, emotion and social judgment. In this process, the cross-domain mapping mechanism of metaphor plays an important role. In China, for example, hot-flavored women are described as "hot" or "chili". A basic cross-domain mapping process of metaphor is completed by mapping the spicy taste to the anger in the emotional domain. Previous researches on taste metaphor are mostly sweet and bitter. Although the spicy taste does not belong to the five basic taste senses from a physiological point of view, its profound cultural connotation makes it of unique research value. Behind Hot Girls, there are a lot of intriguing questions. People have many similar physiological experiences such as red face, sweat and so on when they eat hot and angry. Is this similar physiological experience that is the reason why the metaphor of spicy anger is formed? Is there a difference in the metaphorical effects between people who eat less and those who don't? Is there a personal difference in spicy-angry metaphors? According to the above questions, this study mainly explores the psychological mechanism behind Hot Girls from four aspects. The first is to investigate whether the metaphorical effect of spicy anger affects the stage of perceptual processing or the stage of semantic processing, the other is to examine the influence of spicy life experience on the metaphorical effect of spicy anger. The third is to test the effect of sensation seeking personality on the metaphor effect of spicy anger, and the fourth is to investigate the effect of spicy anger metaphor on emotional receptivity through physiological indexes such as skin electricity and heart rate. In order to explore these four problems, a total of three studies were carried out. In the first study, by studying the influence of spicy taste stimuli on emotional face judgment, we investigated the psychological reality of metaphors of hot and angry at the level of perceptual processing. That is, to investigate whether the physical cues of anger (spicy taste stimuli) can promote the cognitive processing of anger perception information; second, to study the effects of spicy taste stimuli on the recognition of angry facial expressions. To investigate the psychological reality of hot and angry metaphors at the level of semantic processing, that is to say, whether providing physical clues of anger (spicy taste stimulation) can promote the cognitive processing of semantic information of anger; By studying the effects of spicy taste stimuli on the sensibility of emotion, the third study investigated whether the body cues of anger (spicy taste stimuli) could enhance the sensibility of anger elicitation. In addition, three studies examined the effects of sensory seeking personality and spicy experience differences on the relationship between hot and angry metaphors. Based on the above three studies, the conclusions are as follows: (1) at the level of perceptual processing, there is no pungent anger metaphorical effect. (2) in semantic processing, the effect of spicy anger metaphor is significant. It is shown that the spicy taste stimuli significantly promote the reaction time of the judgment of angry words. 3) there is a separation between the physiological response and subjective feeling for the emotional, pungent and angry metaphor effects. Compared with tasteless stimuli, pungent taste stimuli significantly promoted the rate of electrodermal changes induced by anger. However, there was no significant difference in heart rate and self-rated state anger under different taste stimuli. It has a certain influence on the correct rate of judging emotional stimuli under different taste stimuli. 5) the personality of sensation seeking has no significant effect on the metaphorical effect of spicy anger.
