Firstly and most importantly, low morale due to stresses can be re-vitalized by funs. Nowadays, stress has been a serious issue in the workplace all over the world. According to statistics, over 80 % of the workforce in HK has admitted to feeling stressed over work. Therefore, by helping employees to have fun in the workplace, the company can expect a significantly enhanced morale, as well as cohesion and productivity. On the other hand, a fun and exciting working environment helps employees to establish a playful mindset, which is essential for business companies, especially those in the fields of innovation and design. In this way, innovative ideas can be continuously generated. Additionally, a fun workplace can boost communications between individuals and departments. According to relevant researches, people tend to open their minds and talk more in a fun and relaxing environment. In a fun working environment, employees will definitely have more communications with each other, as well as with the management. This is of great importance in a business company as it delivers good teamwork and makes the voices of employees heard.

An excellent example of workplace with fun is Google. As you may know, employees in Google can do whatever they want to make themselves happy. Of course, these behaviors have to be legal. In google, employees can take a break at any time and enjoy themselves with the bars, buffets and game rooms, all of which are available 7-24. Also, sleepwear and pets are allowed in the office, as long as they keep an eye on the pets, especially when your pets are lizards or spiders. From time to time, the company will hold parties in the office for employees to enjoy themselves and mingle with each other. More importantly, in Google, communications are encouraged to the most extent. In fact, there are no restrictions between different ‘classes’. Every employee can talk to anyone (including the CEO) directly in any way at any time. In my opinion, this is indeed one of the key reasons behind the fun workplace that Google is famous for. The reason is that people feel respected as their voices are heard and suggestions are taken. In turn, the employees take the company as a big family and will do their best to benefit and help the family.

In summary, creating a workplace with fun is an easy, yet effective way to motivate the employees and build morale in the workplace. The core part is to encourage communications, especially between employees and the management.
