中国文化特色词汇音译研究

【摘要】：在中国文化发展进步的过程中,逐渐形成了一些独具中国文化特色的特殊表达方式,并随着时间的推移在中国文化中占据着重要地位,在词汇层面上,我们把这些表达方式归结为中国文化特色词汇。作为民族发展样态、民族思维方式的表现形式,中国文化特色词汇在中国文化的传播和传承过程中起着举足轻重的作用。如何更好地翻译中国文化特色词汇,对于中国文化的对外传播以及迅速发展中的中国参与世界多元文化的构建具有极其重要的意义。对于中国文化特色词汇的翻译,翻译界给予了广泛的关注,然而就其翻译策略来看,更多的译者采用归化的翻译策略,一味地试图在译语中寻求等值体,甚至略去不译,使中国文化特色词汇的深刻涵义在翻译传播过程中造成了缺失,不知不觉中丢失了中国文化信息,甚至导致了西方社会在一定程度上对中国产生了误解。音译法完整地保留了中国文化特色词汇的拼音表达形式,避免了中国文化特色词汇在翻译过程中因为其“等值体”在译语文化中的特殊含义而导致的误解。同时,音译词汇的表现形式在视觉上会给译语读者以文化他者的冲击,引起译语读者对中国文化的关注。在此背景下,作为传统翻译补偿性策略的音译法的作用在中国文化特色词汇翻译的过程中逐渐凸显出来。本文选取中国文化特色词汇作为研究对象,在查阅大量文献资料的基础上,以多元系统理论、翻译文化转向理论和后殖民翻译理论为主要理论框架,对中国文化特色词汇的音译做了比较系统性的分析,指出中国文化特色词汇在翻译过程中出现的文化信息不对等,甚至文化信息流失的问题,并提出音译法是解决中国文化特色词汇英译的最为行之有效的途径之一。研究发现,在英汉双语音译实践的历史中,汉语中的音译英语词汇数量远远超出了英语中音译汉语词汇的数量,英汉双语在语言交流的过程中对汉语形成了极大的“入超”之势,因而中国文化特色词汇的音译化趋势也正成为中西文化实现平等交际的必然诉求。在研究论证中国文化特色词汇音译化必然趋势的基础上,本文将中国文化特色词汇简要地分为四类:专有名词、文学经典与哲学词汇、社会文化词汇、新词等,并针对四类词汇的音译展开了分别论述。关于专有名词的音译,翻译界早有共识,本文指出在翻译富有中国文化特色的专有名词,特别是人名和地名时,要注意标准拼音和威式拼音的区别,尽量采用标准拼音形式,避免产生不必要的误会。文学经典与哲学词汇是指反映中国文学和哲学精髓的一类词汇,对于这类词汇的翻译,采用音译的手段能够引起译语读者对于这类词汇的关注,从而起到对外传播中国文学、哲学精髓的作用。社会文化词汇是社会生活和民俗文化的反映,对这类词汇的音译能够向译语读者真实地传递中华民族文化信息,减少译语读者对于中国文化的误解。新词包括旧词新意和随着社会文化的发展新创造出来的新词汇,这类词汇准确捕捉了社会文化发展的前沿动态,是新生文化的真实写照,因而对新词的音译是对时代发展的准确反映。考虑到中国文化特色词汇音译形式在译语文化中的接受程度问题,本文提出了完全音译和不完全音译两种音译层次的讨论,提出将不完全音译视为完全音译的过渡形式,最终实现中国文化特色词汇的完全音译。总体来说,本文在多元系统理论、翻译文化转向理论和后殖民主义翻译理论框架下,研究论证了中国文化特色词汇音译对于翻译文化建构和世界多元文化构建的重要意义。在对音译中国文化特色词汇的趋势进行大胆预测的基础上,通过大量实例对四类中国文化特色词汇给出了音译建议。希望通过本文的研究,给后来的研究者带来一些思维上的启示,从而对中国文化对外翻译传播和中国文化的传承起到一定的积极作用。
[Abstract]:In the process of China cultural development and progress, gradually formed a unique cultural characteristics of the Chinese special expression way, and with the passage of time plays an important role in the Chinese culture, at the lexical level, these expressions are designated as China culture words. As a national development mode, form national thinking the Chinese culture vocabulary plays an important role in the process of cultural inheritance and spread China. How to translate the cultural characteristics of Chinese vocabulary, is of great significance for the construction of international communication Chinese culture and the rapid development of Chinese in diverse cultures of the world.
For Chinese culture vocabulary translation, translation circles have paid wide attention, but its translation strategies, more translators adopt domestication, blindly seeking equivalence in the target language, or even omitted, the deep meaning of Chinese culture vocabulary caused loss in translation in the process, imperceptibly lost China cultural information, and even lead to the misunderstanding of the Western society to a certain extent. Chinese transliteration intact Chinese culture vocabulary pinyin form, to avoid the Chinese culture specific words caused in the process of translation because of the special meaning of the "equivalence" in translation in the target culture misunderstanding. At the same time, transliterated terms visually to the readers in the other's culture shock caused by the target language readers attention to China culture. In this background At the same time, the role of transliteration as a traditional translation compensatory strategy has been gradually highlighted in the process of Chinese cultural vocabulary translation.
This paper selects Chinese culture vocabulary as the research object, on the basis of literature, the polysystem theory, the cultural turn of translation theory and postcolonial translation theory as the main theoretical framework of Chinese culture vocabulary, and makes a systematic analysis, pointed out Chinese cultural characteristics in the translation process of vocabulary the cultural information asymmetry, and even the loss of cultural information problems, and put forward the method of transliteration is one of the most effective way to solve the Chinese culture vocabulary translation. The study found that in both Chinese and English speech translation practice in the history of English vocabulary in Chinese, the number far exceeds the number of English transliteration of Chinese vocabulary, English and Chinese in the process of language communication in Chinese is a great "trade deficit" trend, therefore, the trend of Chinese culture vocabulary is becoming The inevitable demand for the equal communication between Chinese and Western cultures.
Based on the study Chinese cultural characteristics of the vocabulary, the inevitable trend, this paper will China culture vocabulary briefly divided into four categories: nouns, literary classics and philosophical terms, social cultural words, new words, and for the four types of vocabulary, launched separately. On the terminology, translation as a consensus, this paper points out that the translation of proper nouns China rich cultural features, especially the names of people and places, should pay attention to the difference between the standard Pinyin and the Wade Giles system, try to use the standard pinyin form, to avoid unnecessary misunderstanding. Literary classics and philosophical vocabulary refers to a class of words reflect the essence of literature and philosophy Chinese for this kind of vocabulary, translation, transliteration by means of which can cause the target readers attention to this kind of vocabulary, so as to China literature external communication, philosophy of the essence of the role of social culture. Vocabulary is the reflection of social life and folk culture, this kind of words, to the target readers the true communication of Chinese cultural information, reduce the target readers for Chinese cultural misunderstanding. New words include new words and old words with new meaning with the social and cultural development of new created, this kind of vocabulary accurately capture the dynamic frontier of the development of social culture, is a true portrayal of the new culture, and the transliteration of Neologies is to accurately reflect the development of the times. Considering the cultural characteristics of China transliteration form in the target language and culture acceptance issues, this paper presents a discussion of transliteration and transliteration completely incomplete two, levels of the transition form the incomplete transliteration as complete transliteration, transliteration and ultimately complete China culture vocabulary.
Overall, based on the polysystem theory, the cultural turn of translation theory and postcolonial translation theory, the research demonstrates that China culture transliteration has important meaning in the translation of cultural construction and the diverse cultures of the world building. Based on the bold prediction, China culture vocabulary trend, through a lot of examples in four class Chinese culture vocabulary gives transliteration suggestions. Hope that through this study can bring some enlightenment to the later researchers, to Chinese cultural translation and dissemination of cultural heritage Chinese play a positive role.
