从翻译规范理论视角重新解读林纾和鲁迅的翻译

【摘要】：自20世纪80年代以色列学者吉迪恩·图里提出了系统化的翻译规范理论以来，翻译规范理论就成为了现代翻译研究“绝对必要的概念”。图里从描写翻译学的视角，以目的语为导向对原作和译作间的关系进行分析。继图里之后，安德鲁·切斯特曼以及西奥·赫曼斯又对翻译规范做了更为细致的划分和更全面的总结。翻译规范理论突破了传统的规定性研究的藩篱，为描写翻译学研究提供了有力的工具。它具有客观性、中立性、译文导向性和关注文化等特点，是对以往翻译研究的超越。我国翻译研究从语文学研究发展到语言学研究，直至引入翻译规范理论之前，，都呈现出规定性研究重价值判断，轻客观描写的特点。翻译规范理论改变了我国长期以来以原文为导向的翻译研究模式，为中国翻译研究提供了新的理论框架和工具，为现有文本的重新解读提供了可能。清末民初是我国历史上的一个翻译高潮时期，大量翻译作品，尤其是文学翻译不断涌现。新旧思想更替的时代背景使这一时期的翻译作品呈现出多样性。对这一时期著名翻译作品的研究也曾在中国传统的规定性翻译研究视角中进行，但其结果不能对译文进行全方位的解释。林纾和鲁迅是我国著名翻译家，其翻译作品具有鲜明的时代特征。本文运用翻译规范理论从文化历史背景及译者文化立场等方面对林纾和鲁迅的翻译作品进行重新解读，突破了用传统的翻译标准衡量译文的研究方法。本文研究发现相同时代背景下不同的翻译现象都是译者基于对文化历史背景的认识及自己设定的翻译所要达到的目的做出的有意识的选择。在解读文本的基础上，本文总结了翻译规范理论在解释已有翻译文本方面的优势，证明了翻译规范理论能够扩大翻译研究范围，对已有翻译文本提出新的合理解释，使翻译研究者对翻译有更加客观、细致深入的理解，从而推动翻译研究的发展。
[Abstract]:Since Gideon Toury, an Israeli scholar, put forward a systematic theory of translation norms in the 1980s, the theory of translation norms has become an "absolutely necessary concept" in modern translation studies. The relationship between the original and the translated text is analyzed in terms of the target language. Andrew Chesterman and Theo Hermans have also made a more detailed division and a more comprehensive summary of translation norms. The theory of translation norms has broken through the barriers of traditional prescriptive studies. It provides a powerful tool for the study of descriptive translation, which has the characteristics of objectivity, neutrality, translation orientation and concern for culture, which is the transcendence of previous translation studies. Translation studies in China have developed from literary studies to linguistic studies, and before the introduction of translation norms theory, there has been an emphasis on value judgment in prescriptive studies. The theory of translation norms has changed the mode of translation studies which has long been source-oriented in China, provided a new theoretical framework and tools for the study of Chinese translation, and provided the possibility for the reinterpretation of the existing texts. The late Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China were a period of translation climax in the history of China, with a large number of translated works. In particular, literary translation is constantly emerging. The historical background of the replacement of old and new ideas makes the translation works of this period present diversity. The study of famous translation works of this period has also been carried out from the perspective of Chinese traditional prescriptive translation studies. However, the result cannot give a comprehensive explanation to the translation. Lin Shu and Lu Xun are famous translators in China. The translation works of Lin Shu and Lu Xun are reinterpreted from the aspects of cultural and historical background and translator's cultural standpoint. The present study shows that different translation phenomena in the same era are all achieved by the translator based on his own understanding of the cultural and historical background and his own translation. On the basis of reading the text, This paper summarizes the advantages of the translation norms theory in interpreting the existing translation texts, and proves that the translation norms theory can expand the scope of translation studies, provide new and reasonable explanations to the existing translation texts, and make translation researchers more objective in translation. Detailed and in-depth understanding, thus promoting the development of translation studies.
