商务英语与商务汉语教材中性别歧视现象的对比分析

【摘要】:性别歧视的问题由来已久,无论是在西方或是东方国家的社会中,很多方面都存在性别歧视的现象,甚至在人们的思维中根深蒂固。而在社会活动过程中,语言是应用最普遍的沟通媒介,也最容易受到其使用者的思想的影响。由此看来,性别歧视在语言中,例如汉语、英语中,也有明显的体现。这一问题引起了学者的关注,他们做了很多相关研究。这其中,外语教材中的性别歧视现象是一个不容忽视的方面。国内外有一些学者专门调研英语教材(主要是针对母语不是英语的学生的英语教材)中的性别歧视现象。国内也有研究语文和英语课本中性别歧视情况的先例。虽然数量不多,但都有相当的借鉴意义。 目前,随着市场经济迅猛发展,中国同外面世界的经济往来日益频繁。一时之间,商务英语和商务汉语收到了热捧,与之相关的认证证书也备受关注。在这样的背景之下,在商务英语和商务汉语教材中是否存在性别歧视的问题引起了作者的极大兴趣。所以作者决定在借鉴前人的研究方法的基础上,对选定的两套具有典型代表意义的教材,,即剑桥商务英语BEC系列教材,和商务汉语新思路NSR系列教材,进行性别歧视现象的对比分析。 本文通过定量分析的方法,对以下方面分别进行了统计:教材中不同性别的人物的人数以及插图中的人数,不同性别人物的工作种类,用来形容不同性别人物特点的形容词,在教材中(包括录音部分)两性对话中主动话语权和话轮数。 在分析过程中,本文运用内容分析以及会话分析等理论对这些方面进行详细调研,进而得出女性人物在这些教材中的所处情况。 经过对比研究之后,本文发现在BEC系列教材和NSR系列教材中,均存在对女性人物的性别歧视现象,但BEC系列程度较轻,NSR系列程度较重。笔者希望通过本文得出的结论,引起相关部门的足够重视,对教材内容进行修整。
[Abstract]:The problem of gender discrimination has a long history, whether in the West or in the East, there are many aspects of gender discrimination, and even deep-rooted in people's thinking.In the process of social activities, language is the most widely used communication medium, and is most easily influenced by the ideas of its users.In view of this, gender discrimination in language, such as Chinese, English, also has a clear manifestation.This problem has attracted the attention of scholars, they have done a lot of relevant research.Among them, gender discrimination in foreign language textbooks is an aspect that can not be ignored.Some scholars at home and abroad have investigated sexism in English textbooks (mainly for students whose mother tongue is not English).There are also precedents for studying gender discrimination in language and English textbooks.Although the quantity is not many, but all have the considerable reference significance.At present, with the rapid development of market economy, China and the outside world increasingly frequent economic exchanges.At one time, business English and business Chinese received a lot of popularity, and the related certification also received much attention.In this context, the existence of gender discrimination in business English and business Chinese textbooks has aroused great interest.Therefore, on the basis of the previous research methods, the author decides to select two sets of textbooks with typical significance, namely Cambridge Business English BEC Series, and Business Chinese New thinking NSR Series.A comparative analysis of sexism is carried out.Through quantitative analysis, this paper makes statistics on the following aspects: the number of characters of different sexes in the textbook, the number of figures in illustrations, the types of work of different gender figures, the adjectives used to describe the characteristics of different gender characters,In the teaching material (including the recording part) in the gender dialogue active voice and the number of rounds.In the process of analysis, this paper uses the theory of content analysis and conversational analysis to investigate these aspects in detail, and then obtains the situation of female characters in these textbooks.After a comparative study, it is found that there is sexism against female characters in both the BEC series and NSR series, but the degree of BEC series is lighter than that of BEC series.The author hopes that enough attention will be paid by the relevant departments to the revision of the teaching material.
