中外学者学术写作词块结构及功能对比研究

【摘要】:语言学领域中的多词组合(词块)一直为国内外的学者们所关注。词块被认为是熟练的语言产出中必不可少的部分,受到了学者们的广泛关注,从各个角度通过不同的方式对其进行研究。本文对中外学者学术写作中的高频词块进行了研究。目的在于对比两种学者在学术写作中的词块使用情况。本研究自建了两个地球科学学术写作语料库进行研究,一个是本族语作者语料库,另一个是中国学者语料库。语料分别选自外国和国内核心12本期刊中的学术研究文章。两库中每百万词出现20次以上且出现在5个不同文本中的高频词块被提取,并分别进行结构功能分类。 本文的研究结果分为三部分:词块的总体分布特征,,各库的结构和功能分布特征,以及两库异同的对比。词块的总体特征表明中国学者在数量和种类上都明显多于本族语者。结构分布方面,本族语学者偏好介词短语词块,而中国学者偏爱动词短语词块且频繁使用被动结构。功能上,本族语者的词块大多是研究主导和文本主导,功能分布十分明显,且限制功能词块较多;而中国学者也是研究主导和文本主导,但功能分布差异并不明显。两库的词块主要为短语结构,且以研究和文本主导。不同的是,本族语学者的词块偏好介词短语结构且这些词块的作用多为位置、描述和限制;而中国学者的词块多为动词短语结构,功能分布平均。中外学者词块最大的差异在于被动结构的使用,中国学者的使用数量、种类和功能都远多于本族语学者。 对于国内外学者词块的研究进一步支持并补充了前人的研究,说明了词块不仅是学术写作中的重要组成部分,而且二语学习者对此的掌握情况仍与本族语者有很大的差别。本文意在丰富国内的词块研究,对如何在学术写作中恰当运用词块以及英语写作教学提供一些参考。
[Abstract]:Multi-word combinations (lexical chunks) in the field of linguistics have always been concerned by scholars at home and abroad. Lexical chunks are regarded as an essential part of skilled language production, and have been widely concerned by scholars. They are studied in different ways from various angles. This paper studies the high-frequency lexical chunks in the academic writing of Chinese and foreign scholars. The purpose is to compare the use of lexical chunks between the two scholars in academic writing. In this study, two geoscientific academic writing corpora were built, one is the native language author corpus, the other is the Chinese scholar corpus. The corpus is selected from the academic research articles in 12 foreign and domestic core journals. The high-frequency lexical chunks, which appear more than 20 times per million words in the two databases and appear in five different texts, are extracted and classified separately. The results of this paper are divided into three parts: the general distribution of lexical chunks, The distribution characteristics of structure and function of each library, and the comparison of similarities and differences between the two databases. The general characteristics of lexical chunks show that the number and variety of Chinese scholars are obviously higher than that of native speakers. In terms of structural distribution native linguists prefer prepositional phrasal chunks while Chinese scholars prefer verb phrasal chunks and frequently use passive structures. Functionally, the lexical chunks of native speakers are mostly research-oriented and text-oriented, and the functional distribution is very obvious, and there are more restricted functional lexical chunks. Chinese scholars are also research-oriented and text-oriented, but the functional distribution is not obvious. The lexical chunks of the two libraries are mainly phrasal structures and are dominated by research and text. The difference is that the lexical chunks of native speakers prefer prepositional phrase structures and the functions of these chunks are mostly positional, descriptive and restrictive, while Chinese scholars' lexical chunks are mostly verb phrasal structures with an average distribution of functions. The biggest difference between Chinese and foreign scholars lies in the use of passive structure. The number, type and function of lexical chunks used by Chinese scholars are far more than those of native speakers. The research on lexical chunks at home and abroad further supports and complements previous studies. It is shown that lexical chunks are not only an important part of academic writing, but also have great differences between L2 learners and native speakers. This paper is intended to enrich the study of lexical chunks in China and provide some references for the proper use of lexical chunks in academic writing and the teaching of English writing.
