中美高校网站大学简介的体裁对比分析

【摘要】:Swales和Bhatia的体裁分析理论为分析专门用途语篇的宏观结构和交际功能提供了新的视角。作为宣传大学、提升大学知名度和影响力的专门用途语篇,大学网站中的学校简介也有其主要的交际目的和具有显著特点的体裁结构。中美大学学校简介拥有相似的交际目的,属于同一体裁,但两者在体裁结构方面存在哪些异同仍有待研究。为了提高中国大学网站中文简介英译文本的质量,使之更加符合国际化的标准,有必要对中美网站大学简介进行体裁对比分析,发掘异同之处,对中国大学网站简介文本英译提出建议。 为此,本研究分别在中国校友会网中国大学排行榜及美国大学综合排行榜上选取了排名前100的大学,然后在100所中国大学和100所美国大学中各随机抽取30所作为研究的对象。在这60所大学官方网站上获得英文学校简介作为本研究的数据。主要运用语步/步骤分析法分别对中美大学简介进行分析,根据语义和语言标记来鉴别语篇中的语步或步骤。研究发现中美大学简介中出现的所有语步及必需语步和可选语步大致相同,语步顺序也不是绝对地直线式的,都会出现语步逆转、重复和循环的现象。但在特定的一篇学校简介中,并不是所有语步都出现。中国大学简介中出现的语步更加全面;语步顺序也更具统一性。相比之下,美国大学简介中出现的语步,不讲究面面俱到;语步顺序随意性更大。针对这些异同,运用架构理论进行阐释。架构是存在于我们大脑中根深蒂固的心理结构,反映我们的价值观。处于不同文化中的人价值观不同,架构也自然不同。本文运用“买卖架构”阐释了中美大学简介在语步结构中存在相似性的原因。而中国集体主义的价值观以及美国个人主义的价值观在很大程度上决定了中国人提倡统一,美国人追求个性的特点,这就能很好地解释为什么中国大学简介语步及语步顺序讲究一致性,而美国大学简介却要凸显特色。 为了提高中国大学简介英译的质量,鉴于中美大学简介的异同,提出几点建议,如:按照英文思维组织英文简介而不是简单地翻译中文简介;适当删减次要的语步;有些篇幅过长的语步在简介中可简单提及重点,详细内容可设置超链接。
[Abstract]:Swales and Bhatia's genre analysis theory provides a new perspective for the analysis of the macro structure and communicative function of special-purpose discourse. As a special purpose discourse to promote the university's popularity and influence, the school profile on the university website also has its main communicative purpose and distinctive genre structure. The brief introduction of Chinese and American universities has similar communicative purpose and belongs to the same genre, but the similarities and differences in genre structure between the two still need to be studied. In order to improve the quality of Chinese-English translation of Chinese profiles of Chinese university websites and make them more in line with the international standards, it is necessary to make a comparative analysis of the genres of university profiles of Chinese and American websites to find out the similarities and differences. Some suggestions are put forward for the English translation of the brief text of the Chinese University website. Therefore, this study selected the top 100 universities in China Alumni Association China University ranking and American University Comprehensive list, then randomly selected 30 universities from 100 Chinese universities and 100 American universities. English school profiles are available on the official websites of the 60 universities as data for this study. This paper mainly uses the method of step / step analysis to analyze the brief introduction of Chinese and American universities and to identify the steps or steps in the discourse according to the semantic and linguistic markers. It is found that all the steps and necessary steps and optional steps in the introduction of Chinese and American universities are approximately the same, and the sequence of steps is not absolutely straight-line, and the phenomena of step reversal, repetition and cycle will occur. But not all language steps appear in a particular school profile. The steps in the introduction of Chinese universities are more comprehensive and the sequence of steps is more uniform. In contrast, the language steps in American college profiles are not all-inclusive; the sequence of steps is more arbitrary. In view of these similarities and differences, uses the frame theory to carry on the explanation. Architecture is a deeply ingrained mental structure in our brains that reflects our values. People in different cultures have different values and different structures. In this paper, the author explains the reasons for the similarity in the Scolar step structure in the brief introduction of Chinese and American universities by means of Sale and purchase Framework. And the values of Chinese collectivism and American individualism, to a large extent, determine the characteristics of Chinese people advocating unity and Americans pursuing individuality. This can explain why the Chinese university briefs should be consistent with the sequence of language steps, while the American college briefs should highlight their characteristics. In order to improve the quality of English translation of Chinese university profiles, in view of the similarities and differences of the profiles of Chinese and American universities, several suggestions are put forward, such as: organizing English profiles according to English thinking rather than simply translating Chinese profiles; Some long steps can be briefly mentioned in the introduction, details can be set up hyperlinks.
