[Abstract]:For a long time, influenced by various factors such as values and cultural differences, the western media have a certain degree of bias and distortion of Chinese reports, which has led to misunderstanding of some aspects of China by the foreign public. Therefore, with the continuous improvement of the international economic and political status, China should accordingly enhance its international discourse power and change its public diplomacy strategy so that the international public can correctly understand China. In order to shape and enhance the national image of China, which is prosperous and developing, democratic and progressive, civilized and open, and peaceful and harmonious, the China Information Office has launched the shooting of a series of propaganda films on the national image. At the beginning of 2011, the Chinese national propaganda film first landed in the United States, marking the arrival of the era of China's national public relations, and also showing China's determination to take the initiative to improve its international communication power. The series is divided into two parts, one is a 30-second length of non-explanatory character propaganda, and the other is a 15-minute short documentary with explanatory words. A language text that introduces, explains the content, characters, and causes of events in the film and appears in subtitles or dubbing. It is an important tool to help the propaganda film achieve its communicative purpose. Therefore, the new language paradigm is worth studying whether the explanatory words can help achieve the communicative purpose of the film. Halliday, founder of systemic functional Grammar, puts forward that language has three metafunctions. Interpersonal function focuses on the negotiation of discourse participants' social relations, which means that language has the functions of expressing the identity, status, attitude, inference, judgment and evaluation of the speaker. James On this basis, Martin established the evaluation theory. This theory is the development and perfection of the study of language interpersonal function, and has been applied to the analysis of many kinds of discourse. Based on the theory of evaluation, this paper makes a systematic study of the interpersonal meaning of the explanatory word in Chinese national propaganda film by combining tenor analysis and prosodic structure theory, with a view to exploring whether the explained word can achieve its interpersonal communicative purpose through the construction of prosodic structure. Let the foreign public know a real, positive image of China. On the basis of reviewing the previous research results, this paper proposes a new model for analyzing interpersonal meaning and prosodic structure, I. e.: 1) analyzing textual tenor. From the macro level, we understand the two elements of constructing the interpersonal meaning of the text: the power position and the communicative purpose among the text communicators. 2) analyze and mark the evaluation resources for constructing the interpersonal meaning of the text. That is, attitude (Attitude), interacts with (Engagement) and (Graduation), to outline the interpersonal theme developed in the text from a microscopic perspective. 3) based on step 2), the prosodic structure of the text is constructed. In order to verify whether the interpersonal meaning reflected by the evaluation resources in the text is consistent with the purpose of macro communication in step 1. The results show that various prosodic structures constructed by evaluation resources as a whole can reasonably achieve the communicative purpose of the text. However, it is worth noting that this paper only interprets the interpersonal meaning of the commentary from a linguistic perspective and does not take into account other non-linguistic factors that successfully achieve the communicative purpose of the propaganda film, as they do not belong to the scope of this study.
