语值与索绪尔的意义理论

  本文从语言哲学的角度研究了索绪尔《普通语言学教程》(简称《教程》)的关键概念“语值”。“语值”,即语言符号的价值,是《教程》中的一个核心概念,它涵盖了譬如“单位”、“具体实体”和“现实性”等概念,因而被认为是索绪尔思想体系中最重要的概念之一。索绪尔把“语值”看作是一种产生于语言系统的意义,并且能够在语言系统的各个层面得以实现。基于此,本文提出了三个研究问题:(1)在索绪尔普通语言学理论中,语言单位是被如何确定和描述的?(2)在索绪尔的语言系统中,这些语言单位是如何获得和实现作为其意义的语值的?(3)就语言哲学视角看,索绪尔为何将“语值”概念化为这些语言单位的意义?作为一项定性的研究,本文主要依赖于对《教程》文本的解读,并由此来构建概念框架。该框架包含对任意性原则、同一性问题、语值的定义以及两种系统关系的讨论。在此概念框架下,研究分析了“语值”在语言各个层面的实现情况。通过讨论与分析,以上三个研究问题逐渐得到解答,并表现为以下三个研究发现。首先,语言单位被认定为是“在语链中排除前后的要素,作为某一概念的能指的一段音响”(索绪尔2011:104),并表现在三个语言层面:在音位层面,语言单位...
