社会符号学观照下的《吉檀迦利》中译本比较

【摘要】: 罗宾德拉纳特·泰戈尔(1861-1941),享誉世界的文坛巨子,在诗歌、小说、绘画、音乐等领域建树颇丰,造诣深厚,尤以诗歌见长,,被印度和孟加拉国人民虔诚地称为“诗祖”、“诗圣”。1913年他成为第一位获得诺贝文学奖的亚洲作家,其获奖作品正是本文将要研究的诗集《吉檀迦利》,颁奖辞中誉为“至为敏锐、清新与优美”且“出之于高超的技巧,并由他自己用英文表达出来”,从而“使他那充满诗意的思想业已成为西方文学的一部分”。我国从二十世纪二十年代开始引介和翻译泰戈尔的作品,这对后来我国新体诗的雏形初就及广泛传播起到了积极的促进作用,一大批新体诗人兼翻译家涌现出来,冰心也深受影响而创作了许多诗歌,闻一多先生称冰心为“中国最善学泰戈尔”的女作家,徐志摩认为,冰心是“最有名的神形毕肖的泰戈尔的私淑弟子”。由于受到郑振铎翻译的《飞鸟集》的影响,冰心开创了中国小诗的先河,创作出了中国的《飞鸟集》——《繁星》和《春水》,从而为她在上个世纪五十年代翻译《吉檀迦利》等一系列泰戈尔的作品提供了得天独厚的条件,有鉴于此,她的译本在经历以白开元译本为代表的众多重译后依然独树一帜。 本文旨在从社会符号学角度对比冰心和白开元的译本,从而进一步证明社会符号学翻译法在译本对比研究中的实用性。社会符号学翻译法的核心是意义相符,功能相似,且强调一切社会符号都具有意义。功能相似的实现最终依赖于意义在目的语中成功再现。就译本比较而言,意义在目标语中再现的程度决定了译本质量的高低。本文意义的划分采用莫里斯符号意义区分法:(1)指称意义,即符号与所指对象之间的关系所体现的意义;(2)言内意义,即符号相互之间的关系所体现的意义;(3)语用意义,即符号和解释者之间关系所体现的意义。 就指称意义的翻译,本文主要讨论宗教词汇的翻译以及指称意义的误译。《吉檀迦利》是写给神的颂歌,文本中出现了大量的宗教词汇,由于冰心和白开元对泰戈尔宗教观念理解的差异,对应的译文也截然不同。 根据诗歌的特色,言内意义的翻译分别从修辞和非修辞角度加以讨论。作为一代语言大师,冰心用中文独有的“顿”以及“平仄”代替英文的音步,最大限度地再现了诗歌的音韵美。按照社会符号学的观点,一切符号都具有意义,标点符号也不例外。本文讨论了这一常被忽略却“意义”重大的特殊符号,较为客观地分析出译者白开元对待译文的态度具有一定随意性。句法重复是宗教文本经常采用的修辞手法,《吉檀迦利》中大量的句法重复大大增强了文本的节奏感,冰心和白开元都注意到了这一特色,通过对比研究,笔者认为冰心的处理更能体现原作风格。 以往对语用意义的讨论基本都从微观词汇入手,忽略了原文和译作,作为一个大的符号系统标示了作者和译者的语言修养、翻译动机、性别特征、所处时代读者的审美趣味及语言现实等宏观的因素,因此,本文及分析了诸如‘thou’‘you’体现的文体意义,也分析了作者及译者的共同经验、背景知识、性别特征对译文质量的影响。 社会符号学观照下的译本对比分析因其全面性而具有一定的优势。文章从不同角度,在不同层面上客观比较两个译本后,认为冰心的译本与原文在意义上更相符,功能上更相似。
[Abstract]:Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941), world renowned literary giant, in poetry, fiction, painting, music and other fields of great achievements, profound research, especially in his poetry, by India and Bangladesh people reverently called "poem ancestor" and "Saint".1913 he became the first person to win the Nobel Prize for literature of the Asian writer. Winners are going to study the poetry "Jitanjiali" Awards speech known as "the most sensitive, fresh and beautiful" and "with consummate skill, and by his own English express", from "made his poetic thought has become a part of the west" literature. China began the introduction and translation of Tagore's works from 1920s, the later in China at the beginning of the new poetry and spread played a positive role in promoting, a large number of new poets and translators Yong Now, Bing Xin is deeply influenced and created many poetry, Mr. Wen Yiduo called Bing Xin "Chinese best of Tagore" female writer, Xu Zhimo believes that Bing Xin is the "God shaped the most famous of the Tagore Dynasty. Because of the influence of birds by Zheng Zhenduo's translation of < > set, Bing Xin created a small Chinese the poem first, create China < straybirds > - < > and < > spring stars, so she is in the last century in 50s < Jitanjiali > and a series of works of Tagore provides richly endowed by nature, in view of this, she experienced many versions in retranslation by the white version as the representative of the Kaiyuan still become an independent school.
This paper tries to compare her translations from Kaiyuan and social semiotics, which further proves the practicability of sociosemiotic approach in the comparative study of translations. The core of sociosemiotic approach is correspondence in meaning and similarity in function, and stressed that all social symbols are meaningful. Similar functions are realized depends on the meaning successful reproduction in the target language. The translation comparison, the reproduction of the meaning in the target language determines the translation quality. This article divided the significance of using the Maurice symbol distinguishing method: (1) referential meaning, namely signifier and signified reflects the relationship between objects of significance; (2) linguistic meaning that is, embodied in the relationship between the symbolic meaning; (3) the pragmatic meaning, which is the relationship between symbols and explain the significance.
On the referential meaning of translation, this paper mainly discusses the translation of religious vocabulary and meaning of mistranslation. < Jitanjiali > is for God's ode, the emergence of a large number of religious words in the text, because of differences between Tagore and Binxin white Kaiyuan religious concept understanding, corresponding translation is also different.
According to the characteristics of poetry, linguistic meaning translation respectively from rhetorical and non rhetorical perspective are discussed. As a master of language, Bing Xin Chinese unique "meal" and "Ze" instead of English foot, to maximize the reproduction of the beauty of poetry. According to social semiotics, all symbols have meaning, punctuation is no exception. This paper discusses the special symbols but often overlooked "meaning" great, objectively analyze the attitude towards the translator Bai Kaiyuan has a certain randomness. Syntactic repetition is often used by religious text rhetoric, "Jitanjiali" a large number of syntactic repetition greatly enhanced text rhythm, Bing Xin and the white Kaiyuan have noticed this characteristic, through the comparative study, the author thinks that Bing Xin's treatment can better reflect the original style.
The discussion on the pragmatic meaning of the basic vocabulary from the micro start, ignoring the original and translated works as a symbol system marked the author and the translator's language accomplishment, translation motivation, gender characteristics, the reader's aesthetic taste and the linguistic reality and other macro factors, therefore, in this paper, and analysis such as' thou 'and' you 'reflects the Stylistic Significance, also analyzes the common experience, the author and the translator's background knowledge, influence of gender characteristics on the quality.
The comparative analysis of the translation from the perspective of social semiotics has certain advantages because of its comprehensiveness. The article objectively compares the two versions from different angles, and thinks that Bing Xin's version and original text are more similar in meaning and more similar in function.
