[Abstract]:Style is an important characteristic of literary works. Whether there is a successful and mature style is an important symbol of the achievement of literary creation. For a long time, style was considered illusory and unknowable. In the field of translation theory, there is also a debate about style translatability and untranslatability. Based on Liu Miqing's style translation theory, this paper probes into the transmission of characters' language style in Yang Xianyi's A Dream of Red Mansions. In the introduction, this paper first defines what style is, and introduces the views and viewpoints of different scholars on style. Then it leads to the first part "Liu Miqing's theory of style translation". According to this theory, style can be seen in "form", which can be expressed as the symbol system of style. The symbol system of style is the style mark which can be recognized in the language form of the original text. Style marks can be divided into formal marks and non-formal marks. Formal markers consist of six kinds of attribute markers: phonological markers, register marks, lexical markers, textual markers, sentence markers and rhetorical markers. These stylistic markers enable us to understand the stylistic meaning of the original in terms of linguistic form. In addition, it is not enough to fully and accurately understand the original style by intuitive formal symbols. There are some "non-formal factors" in style, such as charm, strength and momentum, which we call the non-formal marks of style. Non-formal markers are characterized by integrity, openness, compatibility and uniqueness. These are also an important part of understanding the style of literary works. Chapter two introduces the translatability of style and the translation method of style. According to Liu Miqing's style translation theory, style can be recognized by people through style marking, and most style markers can be transformed, such as register marks. Lexical markers, as well as most rhetorical markers, are ideal for bilingual translation. Chinese and English expressions in non-formal marks are generally consistent, so style is translatable. There are three translation strategies of style: corresponding code exchange (so-called "imitation"), reconstructed code exchange (re-creation of style meaning) and desalted code exchange (desalination), which is based on the necessity of ensuring conceptual meaning. Abandon or partially abandon the meaning of style). The third chapter studies the basic style characteristics of the characters' language in A Dream of Red Mansions. The Dream of Red Mansions is regarded as an encyclopedia of language and plays an important role in the history of Chinese literature. In addition, the language of characters plays an important role in shaping the characters of A Dream of Red Mansions. In the fourth chapter, phonological markers (including repetition, rhyme, homophony), lexical markers (including disjunctions, use of verbs, adjectives and pronouns) and rhetorical markers (metaphor, euphemism, parody, hyperbole, metonymy) are introduced. In comparison, Feibai) analyzes the language style of the characters in A Dream of Red Mansions from three aspects, and analyzes how Yang's version conveys these three style markers, what translation strategies are used and how to transfer these three styles in the translation of A Dream of Red Mansions.
