　　《远离尘嚣》发表于1874年，这部小说是托马斯哈代的成名作，<WP=4>通常被认为是一部田园悲喜剧，仅仅由于伽百列奥克与芭斯希芭之间的悲欢离合。本文拟从妇女独立、解放的观点、女性批评与发展的观点说明这部小说是一部悲剧——妇女的悲剧、社会的悲剧。
