【摘要】：英国诗人T S艾略特的长诗《荒原》是西方文学史上的杰出作品,被誉为“现代派诗歌的里程碑”。全诗共433行，涉及英、德、希腊、拉丁等多种语言，宗教典故、神话传说以及各种经典作品的引用达百余处。《荒原》突破了传统诗歌的题材和形式，表现出庞大复杂的思想内容和独特的表现手法。 该诗自1922年发表后，，不仅在西方学界引起巨大轰动，而且赢得了广大中国诗人和译界名家的厚爱。从20世纪30年代至今，《荒原》的中译本已出了不下十种。国内已有不少学者对《荒原》译本加以关注并进行研究，但这些研究大多停留在分析译文准确性、比较译本优劣等方面。《荒原》各个译本产生的时代文化背景、译者对现代主义的解读以及译本对当时中国现代主义诗歌的影响等问题未能引起学术界的足够重视。 本文在前人研究的基础上，对《荒原》在中国长达七十多年的译介情况进行梳理，将其分为20世纪30年代至40年代、50年代至70年代、80年代至今三个时期。选取大陆和台湾四个具有代表性的译本，详细阐述各个译本产生的文学语境；分析不同时期、不同地域译者的翻译策略及译本特点，探讨译者的诗学观念和对现代主义的理解；归纳各个译本对当时中国现代主义诗歌的贡献，考察译本如何服务地域文学。
