《红楼梦》两译本中对联英译的比较研究

【摘要】：《红楼梦》是我国18世纪的一部著名长篇小说。由于其深厚的文化历史内涵和高超的艺术成就,成为我国文学领域的经典作品,享有崇高的地位。它对于研究我国的文学艺术、历史文化都具有极高的价值。这部著作现在已有各种文字的译本。研究这些译本的成就,吸收他们的经验,并发现它们的问题以便改进以后的翻译,对翻译理论和实践的研究,以及对各民族间的文化交流和弘扬中华民族的文化传统都具有十分积极的意义。本文选用《红楼梦》前80回中的20副对联作为个案进行研究,运用德国功能主义学派主张的目的论对霍克斯和杨宪益夫妇在两个英文全译本中对这20副对联的英译进行比较研究和客观分析,从译者翻译目的、译者主体性以及由此导致的不同翻译策略进行研究,进而分析对联的可译性并探讨了原语信息缺失的补偿策略。通过分析发现,《红楼梦》作为具有特定历史文化背景的文学作品,其翻译受到了以下因素的影响:译者成长的不同文化背景;译者的不同翻译目的及对目标读者的不同期待和预测;译者对原文的理解差异等。基于以上原因,《红楼梦》的两英译本均在译者能力范围内突出了他们想突出的,传递了他们能传递的。但是,总体说来,杨译本更倾向于传达对联所蕴含的中国元素,例如:双关,典故,平仄等,然而局部忽略了译文的可接受性;相反,霍译本过分注重译文的可接受性而忽略了对联本身所蕴含的中国传统元素,有些随意性,主观性较大,目的性过于明确。全文分为五个部分: 引言部分扼要介绍了本文的主题、理论框架和基本结构; 第二章从定义、起源、分类、特征、美感和风格方面全面介绍了对联,并对中英文对偶进行了比较,可译性、不可译性及补偿策略也在本章得到了探讨。第三章对译者主体性、目的论以及由此决定的归化异化策略进行了论述。第四章对两译本前八十回中的二十幅对联进行了分类并予以分析。第五章是结论部分,对全文作了归纳和总结。
[Abstract]:"A Dream of Red Mansions" is a famous novel in 18th century in China. Because of its profound cultural and historical connotation and superb artistic achievements, it has become a classical work in the field of Chinese literature and enjoys a high status. History and culture are of great value. This work now has translations of various languages. It studies the achievements of these translations, draws on their experience, and finds their problems in order to improve the future translation, the study of translation theory and practice, It is of great significance to the cultural exchange among different nationalities and the cultural tradition of the Chinese nation. This paper selects 20 antithetical couplets from the first 80 chapters of A Dream of Red Mansions as a case study. Using the Skopos theory advocated by the German functionalist school, this paper makes a comparative study and an objective analysis of the English translation of the 20 couplets in two full English versions by the couple Hawks and Yang Xianyi, and from the perspective of the translator's translation purpose. The translator's subjectivity and the resulting translation strategies are studied. Then it analyzes the translatability of antithetical couplets and probes into the compensation strategies for the loss of information in the original language. Through the analysis, it is found that A Dream of Red Mansions is a literary work with a specific historical and cultural background. Its translation is influenced by the following factors: the different cultural backgrounds of the translator's growth, the translator's different translation purposes and the different expectations and predictions of the target readers; For the above reasons, the two English versions of A Dream of Red Mansions highlight what they want to highlight and convey what they can deliver within the translator's competence. Yang's translation tends to convey the Chinese elements contained in antithetical couplets, such as puns, allusions, and so on, but partially neglects the acceptability of the translations; on the contrary, The Huo translation pays too much attention to the acceptability of the translation and neglects the Chinese traditional elements contained in the antithetical couplet itself. The introduction briefly introduces the theme, theoretical framework and basic structure of this paper; The second chapter introduces couplets in terms of definition, origin, classification, characteristics, aesthetic sense and style, and compares Chinese and English duality. Translatability, untranslatability and compensation strategies are also discussed in this chapter. Chapter three discusses the translator's subjectivity, Skopos theory and the strategy of domestication. Chapter 4th classifies and analyzes 20 antithetical couplets in the first 80 chapters of the two versions. Chapter 5th is the conclusion, the full text is summarized and summarized.
