文学翻译的符号学视野

【摘要】: 本文在现代符号学理论的基础上,探讨文学翻译中文学意义对等的理论。 文学翻译的首要任务在于忠实地传达原文的文学信息。尽管文学作品的存在有赖于语言,但文学信息并非语言符号直接传达的信息。语言符号对文学符号的贡献在于以其所指组成文学作品的字面意义,,而并非作品所表达的深层含义。文学信息包括作品的字面意义、比喻意义、风格意义、动机意义、语境意义、文化意义等多种含义,这对文学翻译确是挑战。传统的翻译研究侧重于语言层面上的这种或那种对等,但未能对作品中所有文学意义的全息对等问题提出理论上的解决办法。 根据文学符号学的理论,文学符号和语言符号是两种互不相同的符号。一部文学作品的整体是一个文学符号。文学符号的能指是文学作品的字面意义,或者“象”。文学作品的所指是文学能指所传达的文学信息。与语言符号不同,文学符号传达的是个人的而非约定的信息。文学符号是有理据的符号,即文学符号的能指与所指之间存在关系:文学符号的能指包含所指。 因此,据此理论,我们可以重新审视文学翻译的意义对等问题。以往的翻译理论往往集中于对文学作品中的语言符号的对等讨论,而文学符号学的对等观则建立在文学符号的层面上。由于文学能指包含文学所指,文学信息的全息对等的关键就是实现文学能指的对等,从而实现文学符号的完全对等。实现文学符号的完全对等是文学翻译的根本任务。 本文的研究为文学翻译对等的理论研究提供了符号学新视野,对文学翻译实践和文学翻译评论具有一定的指导意义。
[Abstract]:Based on the theory of modern semiotics, this paper explores the theory of meaning equivalence in literary translation. The primary task of literary translation is to faithfully convey the literary information of the original text. Although the existence of literary works depends on language, literary information is not directly conveyed by language symbols. The contribution of linguistic symbols to literary symbols lies in the literal meaning of the literary works, but not the deep meaning expressed in the works. Literary information includes literal meaning, metaphorical meaning, stylistic meaning, motive meaning, contextual meaning, cultural meaning and so on, which is a challenge to literary translation. Traditional translation studies focus on this or that equivalence at the linguistic level, but fail to provide a theoretical solution to the holographic equivalence of all literary meanings in the works. According to the theory of literary semiotics, literary symbols and linguistic symbols are two different symbols. The whole of a literary work is a literary symbol. The signifier of a literary symbol is the literal meaning, or "elephant", of a literary work. Literary works refer to the literary information transmitted by literary signifiers. Unlike linguistic symbols, literary symbols convey personal rather than agreed information. Literary symbol is a motivated symbol, that is, there is a relationship between the signifier and the signifier of the literary symbol: the signifier of the literary symbol contains the signifier. Therefore, based on this theory, we can re-examine the issue of equivalence of meaning in literary translation. Previous translation theories often focus on the discussion of equivalence of linguistic symbols in literary works, while the equivalence of literary semiotics is based on the level of literary symbols. Because literary signifier contains literature, the key of holographic equivalence of literary information is to realize the equivalence of literary signifiers, and thus to realize the complete equivalence of literary symbols. To realize the complete equivalence of literary symbols is the fundamental task of literary translation. This study provides a new perspective of semiotics for the theoretical study of literary translation equivalence, and has certain guiding significance for literary translation practice and literary translation criticism.
