《儒林外史》英译本中“文化缺

【摘要】： 目前，从文化的角度来研究翻译正方兴未艾。本文以《儒林外史》英译本为依托，探讨文化与翻译关系的一个具体而又重要的方面一“文化缺省”的处理。 本文从“缺省”这一概念出发，进而研究“文化缺省”这一相对复杂的语言现象。结合英译本《儒林外史》，将“文化缺省”细分为三种类型：待补偿型文化缺省，可植入型文化缺省，以及可隐去型文化缺省。 待补偿型文化缺省指原文中的某些文化缺省如在翻译时不加以补偿而直接译入目的语，则将会成为目的语读者的阅读障碍；但如果译者省去或抛弃了原作的文化缺省，则该文化缺省所蕴涵的文化信息将丢失。本文从风俗习惯，典章制度，以及宗教信仰三方面来研究待补偿型文化缺省； 可植入型文化缺省指原文中的文化缺省在翻译过程中可被直接移植到译文中而不加任何补偿以及删减。本文从汉语谚语和比喻两方面来探讨可植入型文化缺省； 可隐去型文化缺省指某些文化缺省在翻译过程中不得不被隐去或抛弃，因为它们早已失去了原有文化信息而演变成为套语。本文从典故，成语，以及其他方面的套语来分析可隐去型文化缺省。 通过分析，本文在力图给出对文化缺省进行判断、分类的标准以及相应的处理策略的同时，得出三方面结论： 第一，文化缺省不仅仅是需要补偿的，有些还是可植入的和可隐去的； 第二，在翻译古典文学名著时，文化缺省现象绝不可忽视，要首先判断它属何种类型，而后采取相应策略。只有如此，，我们传播、介绍中国传统文化的初衷才能实现； 第三，对于文化缺省的分类不是静态的，而是动态的。随着不同 文化间交流的频繁，愈来愈多的待补偿型和可隐大型火化 缺省将变为可植入型义化缺省。
[Abstract]:At present, the study of translation from a cultural perspective is in the ascendant. Based on the English translation of "the History of Confucianism", this paper probes into the treatment of "cultural default", a concrete and important aspect of the relationship between culture and translation. Starting from the concept of "default", this paper studies the relatively complex linguistic phenomenon of "cultural default". Combined with the English translation of "the History of Confucianism", the "cultural default" is divided into three types: the cultural default to be compensated, the cultural default to be implanted, and the cultural default to be hidden. The uncompensated cultural default refers to some cultural defaults in the original text, such as direct translation without compensation in translation, which will become a barrier to the reading of the target language reader; however, if the translator omits or abandons the cultural default of the original, The cultural information contained in the culture default will be lost. This paper studies the cultural default to be compensated from the aspects of customs, rules and regulations, and religious belief. Implantable cultural default refers to the cultural default in the original text can be directly transplanted into the translation process without any compensation or deletion. This paper discusses the implantable cultural default from two aspects of Chinese proverbs and metaphors. The implicit cultural default refers to the fact that some cultural defaults have to be hidden or abandoned in the process of translation. Because they have already lost the original cultural information and evolved into a formula. This paper analyzes the implicit cultural default from allusions, idioms, and other stereotypes. Through analysis, this paper tries to give the judgment of cultural default, classification criteria and corresponding processing strategies, at the same time, we draw three conclusions: first, Cultural defaults are not only compensatory, some are implantable and hidden; second, when translating classics, Cultural default must not be ignored. We should first judge what type it belongs to and then adopt corresponding strategies. Only in this way, we can spread and introduce the original intention of Chinese traditional culture; third, the classification of cultural default is not static, but dynamic. With the frequency of intercultural exchanges, More and more large cremation defaults to be compensated and hidden will become implantable defaults.
