【摘要】： 历史上有无数的例子证明中国的诗歌翻译对中国新诗的发展起着巨大的促进作用，并对我国诗歌的发展有着深远的影响，表现在思想、形式和语言诸多层面上。毫无疑问，诗歌翻译研究是译学研究的重要内容之一。而针对诗歌翻译史的专项研究，则既是翻译史研究的具体内容之一，又是诗歌翻译研究的重要领域，同时也是对我国新诗发展轨迹的追溯和反思。 为了真实而又全面地总结中国诗歌翻译史，充分展现中华民族悠久的翻译史及其灿烂的成果，同时加快翻译史研究的步伐，本文作者在通览国内专家学者的相关论著后，进行了大量调查和原始资料收集工作，借鉴国内外相关专业学者的研究方法并加以改进，对中国诗歌翻译的前一百年(1864年至1966年)进行了简要的概述，试图对诗歌翻译史进行较为细致具体的论述，以期填补翻译史研究中的一项空白，为翻译学的研究做出一点贡献。 文章以诗歌翻译活动事实为基础，以翻译史发展脉络为主线，按照历史发展顺序，全面详尽地对史料进行分析。作者通过计算机对各阶段史料数据进行科学地统计处理，借助图表数据明晰地再现各阶段发展内容；并注意将翻译活动置于不同的历史阶段中观照，，既突出不同阶段有代表性的翻译家的贡献，又分析了社会发展和需求对翻译的推动和选择作用。各阶段联系紧密，相互照应，显示出连贯与动态的历史发展。 除此之外，作者还力图做到有史有论。在文中主要探讨了以下几个问题：阐明诗歌翻译的发展历史，初步确立了诗歌翻译史的大致轮廓；划分诗歌翻译史的三大阶段，并概括了每个阶段的基本特征；梳理各个时期的翻译家及其重要译作，重点评介名家名译及其翻译主张，反映阶段性特色；通过翻译实践的研究，明确诗歌翻译发展的基本进程，诗歌翻译理论的发展脉络，翻译方法和技巧的创新和演变；探讨各阶段翻译主张间的相互影响和历史承接 性，从而丰富翻译史研究的内容。除了上面一些阶段性的讨论外，对整个 100年的诗歌翻译进程来说，我们还可以得到下面三个结论。一、诗歌翻译 逐渐成为文学翻译的一个有严格界定的独立分支，而不再是其他文学翻译形 式的附属物。二、翻译技巧与理论逐渐成熟。争论与流派相继出现，继而具 有自身特色的科学性和系统性。三、对本土文化产生巨大影响，尤其对中国 新诗的发展促进尤为显著，包括语言、形式和立意等诸多方面。 综观我国英美诗歌翻译，所涉及到的人文现象是极其丰富的。它不仅是 历史的事实，也是历史进程的积极演绎轨迹。这是一个必须诉诸历史才能说 明的问题，诗歌翻译的一切变化无不与时代和环境的变化有关，与译者队伍 的更新、译作共享范围的扩大、汉语言的演变、对外来文化的接受与过滤及 审美鉴赏能力的提高等等现实条件有关。正是中国的现实决定着对外国诗歌 翻译的历史取向，决定着它发展的阶段性和不平衡性。所以，外国诗歌的翻 译不是一个自我封闭的静态系统，而是一个不断自我调整和适应的开放系 统，它并不把己完成的译诗看作完满静止的结局，在它的发展历程中已达到 的目的只是正在消失的环节，而超越和淘汰才是艺术__L的成功。外国诗歌在 中国现代的翻译介绍的历史，正是如此发展过来的，也将继续这样发展下去， 我们只有对这一历史有了正确的认识和理解，才能更自觉地做好外国诗歌的 翻译介绍工作，为我国的文化建设做出应有的贡献。
