英汉语作者科技论文英文摘要中经济原则应用对比研究

【摘要】：科技英语具有独特的文体特点,其中英文摘要在国际学术论文阅读和发表中具有无可替代的作用,因此对中国学者而言,掌握科技论文英文摘要的特点以及写好英文摘要非常重要。科技论文英文摘要写作的一个显著特点便是秉承经济原则,在语法层面具体反映在名词定语,名词化结构,非限定动词等方面。但是,迄今为止分析经济原则在科技论文英文摘要中应用情况的实证分析研究并不多,而自建语料库从而对经济原则的使用情况进行对比分析研究的文章更不多见。本文作者采用随机抽样法自建两个语料库,共收集了分属四个学科的科技论文英文摘要160篇,摘要撰写者分别为中国学者和英语本族语者。然后对语料库进行人工附码,以便检索、统计。为了研究经济原则的使用情况,作者比较了两个语料库中科技论文英文摘要的名词定语,名词化结构,非限定动词的使用频率通过对中国学者和英语本族语者在科技论文英文摘要中使用名词定语,名词化结构(不包括“of”介词短语结构)以及非限定动词的频率进行比较,笔者发现,英语本族语者使用名词定语,名词化结构(不包括“of”介词短语结构)以及非限定动词的频率明显高于中国学者;另外,从简单句所包含的信息量大小来看,英语本族语者所写的简单句中蕴含的信息量更大。这说明英汉语作者在科技论文英文摘要中经济原则的应用上确实存在差异,相对中国学者而言,英语本族语者在撰写科技论文英文摘要时能更好地应用经济原则,具体表现在名词定语,名词化结构,非限定动词等方面。最后,为了更好地探讨可能导致这些差异的原因,笔者对来自南京五所高校的十二名博士生进行了访谈,结果表明,对经济原则缺乏了解以及英汉语言结构的不同是造成这些差异的主要原因,此外,语言迁移的影响也有一定的作用。此项研究丰富了经济原则和语料库的研究,可以更好地帮助中国学生及学者提高阅读和撰写本领域的科技论文英文摘要的能力。
[Abstract]:Scientific English has unique stylistic features, in which English abstracts play an irreplaceable role in reading and publishing international academic papers. Therefore, it is very important for Chinese scholars to master the characteristics of English abstracts of scientific papers and to write English abstracts well. One of the remarkable features of English abstract writing in scientific papers is to uphold the economy. The principle, at the grammatical level, is reflected in terms of noun attribution, nominalization and non restrictive verbs. However, the analysis of the application of economic principles to the English abstracts of scientific and technological papers is not much studied so far, and there are less articles on the comparative analysis of the use of economic principles by self built corpus. The author constructs two corpus by random sampling, and collects 160 English abstracts of scientific and technological papers belonging to four disciplines. The authors are Chinese scholars and English native speakers, respectively. Then the corpus is artificially attached to search and statistics. Through the use of nouns, nominalization (not including "of" prepositional phrase structure) and the frequency of non restrictive verbs, the author finds that English native speakers use nouns, nominalization (not including "of" prepositional phrase structure) and not The frequency of the finite verb is obviously higher than that of the Chinese scholar. In addition, the amount of information contained in the simple sentences written by English native speakers is greater in terms of the amount of information contained in the simple sentences. It shows that the English and Chinese writers do have differences in the application of economic principles in the English abstracts of scientific and technological papers. In writing the English abstracts of scientific papers, they can better apply economic principles, specifically in terms of nouns, nominalization and non finite verbs. Finally, in order to better explore the reasons that may lead to these differences, I interviewed twelve doctoral students from five universities in Nanjing. The lack of understanding and the difference in the structure of the English and Chinese language are the main reasons for these differences. In addition, the influence of language transfer has a certain effect. This study enriches the research of economic principles and corpus, and can help Chinese students and scholars to improve their ability to read and write English abstracts of scientific papers in this field.
