英汉冲突类商务信函的介入资源对比研究

【摘要】:商务信函是用以传递信息、处理商务事宜的电讯文书,冲突类商务信函作为商务信函的一种语类,是解决贸易冲突的一种有效沟通方式。冲突类商务信函从言语行为视角下可分为索赔函、理赔函与拒绝函等。目前国内外学者主要探讨冲突类商务信函的礼貌策略、人际意义及修辞等方面,而在J. R. Martin提出的评价理论视域下进行中英文对比的研究并不多见。本论文拟以评价理论的一个子系统—介入系统为理论依据,对比分析中英商务信函介入策略的异同,旨在分析中英商务语篇介入策略的动因,进而提供跨文化商务沟通的有效途径。 本文拟从以下几个方面对中英文冲突类商务信函进行对比研究: 1)英汉冲突类商务信函中是否存在着介入资源?作者所采用的介入策略是否存在异同?哪些是他们最常用的介入资源? 2)导致英汉冲突类商务信函介入策略异同的因素有哪些? 本研究以J. R. Martin和P. R. R. White(2005)提出的评价理论中的介入系统为理论框架。介入系统指的是语言使用者利用语言手段,调节说话者对所说内容承担的责任和义务,并且可以分为单声介入和多声介入。多声介入主要研究作者如何通过词汇、语法等资源来表明自己的态度和观点,并与读者形成不同的对话。为了对比分析中西方在冲突类商务信函中所使用介入策略的异同,本文选取了具有代表意义的60篇英汉冲突类商务信函作为语料库(其中索赔函、理赔函与拒绝函各占20篇),在语言学文本标注软件(UAM Corpus Tool V2.8.12)的帮助下,进行定量和定性分析,研究结果表明: 1)介入资源广泛地存在于冲突类商务信函中,并且中英文作者在介入资源的选择上存在相同的偏好,但同时也存在差异性。英文作者倾向于使用对话收缩资源(Contract),特别是同意资源(Concur)。而中文作者更喜欢使用对话扩展资源(Expand),,尤其是归属资源(Attribute)。英文作者相应地压缩了与读者协商的对话空间,倾向使用更多的主观介入来凸显权威姿态。而中文作者倾向打开对话空间,给予了读者更多的选择空间,中式冲突类商务信函在解决冲突上相对缓和。 2)中英文商务信函属于同一种语言表达体系,有着相同的写作目的,并且介入系统本身也有着一致的操作机制,但是由于中英文化价值观、国家体制及企业发展水平等诸多因素的不同,导致了中英冲突类商务信函在应用介入资源时既存在相似性也存在差异性。 3)基于以上研究结果,提出相应的建设性建议。中方作者应该增加闭合性资源,准确把握其语气、态度,从而促进跨文化商务沟通的有效进行。 本研究具有一定的理论和实践意义。本文采用定量、定性的研究方法,分析英汉冲突类商务信函,为该领域的研究拓宽了视角,同时为跨文化商务沟通有效进行提供了一定的理论依据。
[Abstract]:Business letter is a kind of telecommunication document used to transmit information and deal with business affairs. Conflict business letter is a kind of language type of business letter, and it is an effective communication method to solve trade conflict. Conflict business letter can be divided into claim letter, claim letter and rejection letter from the perspective of speech act. At present, scholars at home and abroad mainly discuss the politeness strategy, interpersonal meaning and rhetoric of conflict business letters. However, there are few researches on Chinese and English contrast from the perspective of evaluation theory proposed by J. R. Martin. Based on the theory of intervention system, a subsystem of evaluation theory, this thesis aims to compare and analyze the similarities and differences between Chinese and English business letter intervention strategies, with a view to analyzing the motivations of Chinese and English business discourse intervention strategies. Furthermore, it provides an effective way for cross-cultural business communication. This paper intends to make a comparative study of conflict business letters in English and Chinese from the following aspects: 1) are there any intervention resources in English and Chinese conflict business letters? Are there any similarities and differences in the intervention strategies adopted by the author? What are their most commonly used intervention resources? 2) what are the factors that lead to the similarities and differences of intervention strategies between English and Chinese business letters? This study takes the intervention system in the evaluation theory proposed by J. R. Martin and P. R. R. White (2005 as the theoretical framework. Intervention system refers to the use of language means by language users to adjust the responsibility and obligation of the speaker for what they say, and it can be divided into monophonic intervention and multi-tone intervention. Multi-tone intervention mainly studies how the author expresses his attitude and views through vocabulary, grammar and other resources, and forms a different dialogue with the reader. In order to compare and analyze the similarities and differences of intervention strategies used in conflict business letters between China and the West, this paper selects 60 English and Chinese conflict business letters with representative meanings as a corpus (including claim letters). With the help of linguistic text tagging software (UAM Corpus Tool V2.8.12), the quantitative and qualitative analysis is carried out. The results show that: 1) intervention resources widely exist in conflict business letters. And the Chinese and English authors have the same preference in the choice of intervention resources, but there are also differences. English authors tend to use dialogs to shrink resource (Contract), especially to agree with resource (Concur). Chinese authors prefer to use dialog to extend the resource (Expand), especially the home resource (Attribute). Accordingly, the author reduces the dialogue space with the reader, and tends to use more subjective intervention to highlight the authority posture. However, Chinese writers tend to open up dialogue space and give readers more choice. Chinese business letters of conflict type are relatively relaxed in resolving conflicts. 2) Business letters in both Chinese and English belong to the same language expression system. Have the same writing purpose, and the intervention system itself has a consistent operational mechanism, but due to the Sino-British cultural values, national system and enterprise development level and other factors are different, It leads to the similarities and differences in the use of intervention resources in Sino-British business letters. 3) based on the above results, the author puts forward some constructive suggestions. Chinese authors should increase closed resources, accurately grasp their tone and attitude, so as to promote effective cross-cultural business communication. This research has certain theoretical and practical significance. This paper uses quantitative and qualitative research methods to analyze English and Chinese business letters of conflict type, which not only broadens the perspective of this field, but also provides a certain theoretical basis for the effective cross-cultural business communication.
