[Abstract]:Critical discourse Analysis (CDA) appeared in the 1970s. Its main purpose is to analyze and explore the linguistic characteristics and political and cultural background of a particular discourse. In order to prove the subjectivity and tendency of news discourse, the author reveals the hidden relationship between ideology and power behind the news discourse, and further excavates the writing intention of journalists and the viewpoints and stands of political interest groups. Based on the reports on the Hong Kong occupation of China in 2014 in China Daily and the Washington Post, this paper makes a critical analysis on Halliday's systemic functional grammar and Felke's three-dimensional analytical model. This paper discusses how journalists in China and the United States use language to hide the ideological meaning, and expounds the ideological meaning and power relationship behind the news discourse. Based on the analysis of the collected news corpus, this paper draws the following conclusions: the seemingly objective and impartial news reports implicitly express the ideological tendency and power relationship represented by their political interest groups. The results show that: 1, journalists use different words to express their views on specific political events; (2) in the use of modality system, journalists express or emphasize their attitude towards relevant news reports by skillfully changing tenses, and by directly and indirectly reporting quotations, as well as the positions of the power groups they represent; 3. Through the comparison of Chinese and American reports, American journalists used more frequently the two systematic methods of nominalization and passive voice in the analysis method, and carried out certain deletion of the corpus, replacement of the words, and rearrangement of the meaning. To express the views of the power groups they represent. Therefore, in the field of analysis of political news, from the perspective of critical discourse analysis, the writing intention and right tendency of journalists hidden behind the news reports of major political events will have certain practical significance. By means of contrastive analysis, we can not only understand and interpret discourse more thoroughly, but also reveal the relationship among discourse, ideology and power.
