从跨文化交际视角看社区口译员的角色

口译按照其发生的场合可分为会议口译和社区口译。会议口译服务于各种国际性会议,而社区口译主要服务于国家内部的公共服务部门,例如医院、法庭、学校、聋哑人社区等。过去对口译的研究主要集中在会议口译领域。近年来,由于国际交流日益频繁,越来越多的外国人来中国生活、工作,很多公共部门例如医院、法院等在工作中遇到的跨文化交流越来越多,语言障碍问题也越来越突出。因此,社区口译日益引起人们的重视。过去多数对口译员的角色定位很大程度上受到“传声筒模式”的影响,而这一模式是基于会议口译员的工作特点提出的。社区口译在工作中比会议口译涉及更多的面对面交流,这使得社区口译员积极参与到跨文化交流中,而不仅仅只是担任一个传声筒的角色。笔者首先对社区口译的特点进行了分析,指出其区别于会议口译的最显著特点在于过程中包含更多面对面的交流;然后,从跨文化交流的角度对社区口译员的角色进行了探讨,并将其角色概括为跨文化交流促进者,其中包含语言翻译者、文化调解者、话轮控制者三个小角色。笔者还提出了一些方案,提高社区口译员作为跨文化交流促进者的素质。这些方案主要分为三个方面:第一,锻炼提升口译员的基本素质,如笔记、短期记忆力、分析理...
