格——原则还是参数？

　　从1981年,乔姆斯基将“格”研究引进生成语言学,并将其发展为“格理论”,构成生成语言学的一个模块以来,“格理论”经历了从管约论其间的“管辖格理论”到简约论前期的“呼应格理论”和后期的“非呼应格理论”三个发展阶段。通过对这三个阶段的对比研究,我们发现“格理论”的各个阶段均以统一性、精简性和有效性解释为旨归,但每个阶段的理论最终面临“统一”“精简”和“有效”的无奈。与此同时,通过对英语语料的详细搜集探研以及对法语、汉语、越南语和泰国语“格”问题的深层拷问,我们发现,“格”不是语言所必需的;“格”不是构成语言内部结构移位的动因;“格”是外在于语言结构的语义解释。质言之,“格”是参数而非原则。于是,我们在普遍语法框架内提出“非格”概念。此观点源于并参看赵彦春教授未发表“非格假设”论文。①主语和谓语是语言结构的必要成分,体现形式为:[S[NP[VP]]]。依据语言的离散性、层级性、递归性特征,句子的必要成分又内嵌于普遍逻辑模板之中。②NP之间没有形态派生关系,其形态在词库中固有,以待提取,置入逻辑模板。由此“抽象格”被剔除。③句子之间无派生关系,均在逻辑模板的调配下进行基础生成。生成后的句子要...
