目的论映照下的晚清维新派翻译行为研究

　　在中国近两千年的翻译实践中,晚清维新派作为一个政治团体出现了一批伟大的翻译家、译论家与学者。他们的翻译活动对清末中国翻译的发展作出了杰出的贡献。维新派的翻译实践无论是在译书的选择还是在其译作的社会功能上,都具有进步性,其最杰出的代表是严复、林纾和梁启超,他们不仅留下了一部部不朽的翻译作品,也在很大程度上改造了中国人落后的思想观念,成功地为封建社会晚期的中国输入了国外先进的社会制度和学术思想。长久以来,针对维新派中的代表人物及其译作,各种研究成果层出不穷。但学者们大多局限在对维新派人物的个案研究,对维新派翻译行为共性的研究似不多见。笔者认为不同的历史时期赋予了翻译不同的历史使命,同一时间段的翻译作品必然有其共性。维新派翻译家的译作是在特殊历史条件下本着特殊目的以特殊方式移译过来的。他们对原作进行增删乃至改写的译法,虽不是“翻译正法’但总体都服从于救亡图存,思想启蒙的大目标。根据Hans J.Vermeer的目的论,翻译是一种目的性行为,翻译行为所要达到的目的决定整个翻译行为的过程,即结果决定方法。目的论的贡献不仅仅在于为译者增加了可供选择的翻译策略,也减少了对译者的束缚,使译者主观能动性...
