林纾翻译研究的释义学新解

在传统的翻译研究中,着力于对原文及译文的静态对比,一篇译文或译著的质量的评价或命运的批判,往往取决于它们与原文的关系。在世人的传统观念中,译文在很大程度上是原文的一种“翻版”或“复制”,因此,译文对原文的忠实就变得天经地义了。必须承认,研究翻译,译文与原文的关系是不容忽视的一个重要课题,然而,无论是口译还是笔译,非文学翻译还是文学翻译,译者在翻译中都不可避免处在一个动态的活动场中,他所走的每一步,他所采取的每一个步骤,都不是完全孤立的。在整个翻译活动中,译者作为翻译主体,无疑是最为活跃的因素,对翻译起着举足轻重的作用。20世纪八九十年代译学研究经历了一场深刻的范式革命,在这个时期两个重要标志是西方哲学的语言论转向和翻译理论界的“文化转向”,此间翻译由此译者主体地位呼之欲出,传统的翻译评判标准“忠实”以及“对等”受到了前所未有的挑战。 本文尝试运用以德国哲学家伽达默尔为主要代表的现代哲学释义学理论,研究对象是晚清翻译家林纾译作中显现的主体性。众所周知,任何翻译都是从理解开始的,而哲学释义学理论正是对意义的理解与阐释的研究。在概述了现代哲学释义学的偏见、视域融合以及效果历史三大核...
