中美语言学专业硕士毕业论文摘要体裁对比分析

【摘要】:近几年,体裁分析法经常被用于进行语料分析研究。摘要作为一种重要的学术语料,因其在学术生活中的重要角色逐渐吸引广泛的研究兴趣。然而,前期对于摘要体裁的研究主要集中于研究某一特定领域摘要体裁结构,但将外国语言学专业作为主题的中外研究生摘要体裁对比分析并不多见,该研究在论文写作教学方面有重要意义。本文对中美外国语言学专业学生的硕士毕业论文摘要部分进行对比分析。本文的自建语料库u4100篇摘要组成,总共分为两组,其中50篇中国硕士摘要(CMA)选自中国期刊网优秀博硕论文全文数据库,美国硕士摘要(AMA)选自Pro Quest博硕论文全文数据库,所有语料均选自2014年至2016年近三年的摘要。本文利用Swales的IMRD模式(引言-方法-结果-讨论)和move-step分析法(语步-步骤)作为研究方法,从宏观结构(体裁结构)和微观结构(语言特点)包括句型使用,时态选择,第一人称以及语态倾向四个方面对语料进行对比研究。通过对语料进行宏观结构分析和微观结构分析,研究发现了两组语料之间的相同点及不同点。在宏观结构方面,中国硕士摘要和美国硕士摘要在语步构成方面存在相同点。研究发现大部分的中国外国语言学专业硕士以及美国语言学专业硕士的论文摘要部分均u4四个稳定语步组成,即引言-方法-结果-讨论,语步结构研究结果与Swales的IMRD模式(引言-方法-结果-讨论)基本吻合。然而在宏观结构的语步顺序以及固定步骤方面,中国硕士摘要和美国硕士摘要存在不同。在语步顺序方面,中国学生的语步顺序相对更复杂,主要包括重复,循环,逆序三种情况。然而大多数美国学生严格遵循Swales的IMRD模式(引言-方法-结果-讨论)的语步顺序。固定步骤分析结果显示,从固定步骤数量上来看,中国外国语言学专业硕士论文摘要的“引言”语步的步骤比美国中国外国语言学专业硕士论文摘要多5个步骤。并且中国学生倾向于在“讨论”语步中加入“提供建议”步骤。在微观语言特点分析方面,在时态和语态使用两方面,中美硕士摘要存在共同点。在两组语料中,一般现在时和主动语态的使用频率均明显高于其他形式。然而在第一人称代词以及句型使用方面,中美研究生摘要存在不同。在人称指代方面,中国学生更多使用“我们”来指代文章作者,美国学生则更倾向选择第一人称单数“我”来进行指代。此外,在句型使用方面,中国硕士摘要语料中对于简单句的使用数量明显高于复杂句,并列句以及并列复杂句三种句式结构,而美国语料中简单句和复杂句的使用数量总体上几乎相同。本研究为英语写作教学提出了一些建议,并希望能帮助中国外语学习者更好的理解摘要的体裁结构,并提升摘要写作的能力。
[Abstract]:In recent years, genre analysis is often used for corpus analysis. As an important academic corpus, its important role in academic life gradually attracts a wide range of research interests. However, the previous research on abstract genre is mainly focused on the structure of abstract genre in a specific field, but the comparative analysis of abstracts genre of Chinese and foreign graduate students with foreign linguistics as the subject is rare. This research is of great significance in the teaching of thesis writing. This paper makes a comparative analysis of the abstracts of master's thesis of foreign linguistics majors in China and the United States. The self-built corpus U4100 abstracts are divided into two groups: 50 Chinese Master's Abstracts (CMA) are selected from the full text database of excellent articles in Chinese Journal Network, and the American Master's Abstracts (AMA) are selected from Pro Quest thesis full text database. All the data are selected from 2014 to 2016 nearly three years of summary. Using Swales' IMRD model (introduction, method-result-discussion) and move-step analysis (step-step) as the research methods, this paper includes the use of sentence patterns and the choice of tense from macro structure (genre structure) and microstructure (linguistic characteristics). A comparative study of the first person and the voice tendency is carried out in four aspects. Through macro structure analysis and micro structure analysis of the corpus, the similarities and differences between the two groups are found. In macro structure, there are similarities between Chinese Master's Abstracts and American Master's Abstracts. It is found that most of the thesis abstracts of the master's degree in foreign linguistics in China and the master's degree in American linguistics are composed of four stable steps, namely, introduction, method, result and discussion. The results of Swales' IMRD model (introduction-method-result-discussion) are in good agreement with those of Swales. However, there are differences between the Chinese Master's Abstract and the American Master's Abstract. In the aspect of step order, Chinese students' step order is more complicated, including repetition, cycle and reverse order. However, most American students strictly follow Swales' IMRD model (introduction-method-result-discussion). The results of the analysis of fixed steps show that, in terms of the number of fixed steps, there are five more steps in the "introduction" of the abstract of the master thesis of foreign linguistics in China than in the United States of America. And Chinese students tend to add "advice" to the "discussion" step. In microcosmic language analysis, there are similarities between Chinese and American master's abstracts in terms of tense and voice use. In both groups, the frequency of use of general present tense and active voice is significantly higher than that of other forms. However, there are differences in the use of first-person pronouns and sentence patterns between Chinese and American graduate students. In terms of personal reference, Chinese students more often use "We" to refer to the author of the article, while American students tend to choose the first person singular "I" to refer to. In addition, in the use of sentence patterns, the number of simple sentences used in the Chinese Master's Abstract corpus is significantly higher than that of complex sentences, complex sentences and parallel complex sentences. On the whole, the number of simple sentences and complex sentences in the American corpus is almost the same. The present study provides some suggestions for the teaching of English writing and hopes to help Chinese EFL learners better understand the genre structure of abstracts and improve their ability to write abstracts.
