从译者责任的角度看林语堂和林戊荪的《论语》翻译

　　随着中国在世界舞台上的重要地位日益凸显,越来越多的人开始对有着五千多年悠久历史的中国传统文化着迷,而中国传统文化的精髓是儒学,它是中华民族奉献给全人类的宝贵财富之一。儒家思想对中国文化的影响迄今已有两千多年。《论语》是儒家学说的代表作,它对中国人的影响,是其它任何一部作品都无法比拟的。因此,要想把中国的传统文化推广到世界,《论语》的翻译就成了一座让世界了解中国文化的必不可少的桥梁。自十六世纪末期以来,西方传教士或学者就开始尝试以各种文字把孔子的思想介绍给西方世界。三百多年过去了,其间出现了众多译本。译者受不同历史文化背景、翻译目的以及其他多方面因素的影响,《论语》的英译本也各具特色。国内的许多学者对这些英译本进行了大量的研究,但大多集中在对译文质量研究或者多译文比较等方面。本篇论文则将重点放在了《论语》翻译时译者的责任方面。将对林语堂和林戊荪两位语言大师在不同时期对《论语》的翻译进行研究比较,借此探讨典籍翻译中译者的责任。本篇论文共分为五个部分,第一部分为引言,简要介绍本文的主题,研究目的和研究方法。第二部分介绍译者的责任。无论何时,译者在翻译过程中都肩负着许多责任,而在世界文化日趋多...
