暗恐理论视野下的《时间箭》研究

【摘要】：马丁·刘易斯·艾米斯(1949—)同朱利安·巴恩斯、伊恩·麦克维恩并称为英国“文坛三巨头”,是一位颇具影响力的英国当代作家。《时间箭》是他第一部获得布克奖提名的小说,该小说通过倒叙一名纳粹医生一生的经历,间接揭示了大屠杀背景下纳粹犯下的令人发指的残暴罪行。该作品也凭借大胆的主题选择与新颖的写作技巧,自面世以来已经在世界范围内引起了学者的瞩目。国内外学者们对《时间箭》的研究在一些方向上取得了十分可观的成就,但专门运用暗恐理论来分析这本小说的作品似乎并不多见。本文在西格蒙德·弗洛伊德的暗恐理论视野下对《时间箭》中的种种暗恐现象进行了研究。首先,本文通过文本细读,将小说中对主人公战后生活造成很大影响的暗恐症状总结为不断重复的梦带给主人公的恐惧、主人公对文中女性的“非家”态度、主人公临死时的自我分裂。其次,本文结合暗恐理论最大的特征——压抑的复现追溯了小说中困扰主人公的暗恐的起源,即那段被主人公压抑的罪恶记忆——大屠杀,并揭示了隐藏在这段罪恶背后的原因、研究了这项罪行带来的后果。再次,本文通过剖析主人公的持续逃避行为,包括身体上的逃避、精神上的逃避、叙述上的逃避,探究了主人公无法驱散暗恐的缘由。最后,本文得出结论,正是因为主人公一直在逃避罪痕累累的过去,所以导致根源于那段大屠杀记忆的暗恐不能得以根除。受暗恐折磨的人只有正视暗恐产生的根源并勇敢地面对现实,才有可能得到救赎。
[Abstract]:Martin Lewis Emily 1949-9) along with Julian Barnes and Ian McVien, they are known as the "Big three" of Britain's literary world. Time Arrow is his first Booker nomination novel by recounting the life of a Nazi doctor. It reveals indirectly the heinous and brutal crimes committed by the Nazis in the context of the Holocaust. With its bold choice of themes and novel writing skills, this work has attracted worldwide attention since its publication. Scholars at home and abroad have made considerable achievements in some aspects of the study of time Arrow, but it seems that it is rare to use the theory of hidden terror to analyze this novel. Based on Sigmund Freud's theory of hidden terror, this paper studies the phenomena of hidden terror in time arrow. First of all, by reading the text carefully, this paper sums up the hidden symptoms of fear which have a great impact on the hero's life after the war as the fear brought to him by repeated dreams, and the protagonist's attitude towards the female in the text. The self-division of the protagonist at the end of his life. Secondly, combined with the most important characteristic of the theory of hidden terror, the reversion of repression traces the origin of the hidden terror that puzzles the protagonist in the novel, that is, the repressed evil memory of the protagonist, the Holocaust. The reasons behind this crime are revealed and the consequences of the crime are studied. Thirdly, by analyzing the sustained escape behavior of the protagonist, including physical escape, spiritual escape and narrative escape, this paper explores the reason why the protagonist can not dispel the hidden fear. Finally, this paper concludes that the hidden fear rooted in the memory of the Holocaust cannot be eradicated because the protagonist has been evading the sinful past. Only by facing up to the root of the hidden fear and facing the reality bravely can they be redeemed.
