[Abstract]:Doris Lessing, a famous British female writer, won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2007 and occupies an important and unique position in the history of world literature. Since her first novel, Wild Grass singing, published in 1950, numerous scholars and critics have studied her personal and works. Most of the researchers study Lessing's early works from different angles, few of them study her new novel "the sweetest Dream", and the study of interpreting the novel from the perspective of trauma theory is even less. Based on the theory of trauma, this paper attempts to analyze the psychology and behavior of the three generations of women in the novel the sweetest Dream. In addition to the introduction and conclusion, this thesis consists of three parts: the first part analyzes the causes of the female trauma of three generations in the Reynolds family, that is, the trauma of mother-in-law Julia originated from the cruel war, especially the two world wars; Wife Francis's trauma stems from a failed marriage, while stepdaughter Sylvia's trauma stems from family factors such as a lack of paternity in childhood, abuse and neglect by his mother. The second part focuses on the different manifestations of trauma in these three generations of women. The third part describes the three women's efforts to overcome the trauma. By comparing and analyzing the wound healing process of the three female characters in "the sweetest Dream", this paper finds that both mother-in-law Julia and wife Francis are out of the trauma and return to normal life, while stepdaughter Sylvia fails to recover. Therefore, this paper draws the following conclusion: trauma caused by childhood is more harmful and difficult to heal than that of adults. At the same time, Lessing's Trauma-recovery Road in Reynolds' three generations reveals Lessing's concern and reflection on the current situation of women, in order to arouse the world's attention to female trauma.
