探析E.M.福斯特《印度之行》中被殖民者在文化冲突中的抵制行为

《印度之行》自1924年出版以来,受到了广泛的关注。多年来,学者们从各个文学角度对其进行解析。随着后殖民主义理论的兴起,渐渐地开始有学者运用这一新理论对该小说进行分析。基于后殖民理论家霍米·巴巴的理论,本文将运用混杂性从多个侧面对《印度之行》中文化冲突问题进行探究。同时,本文也将会就小说中被殖民者在英印社会中对殖民文化的抵制与反抗进行分析。本文揭示了英国政府殖民控制与文化霸权行为对印度带来的影响。印度人民长期生活在英印殖民社会下,在被迫接受英国文化的过程中,他们开始盲目模仿英国文化,为混杂现象的发生提供了条件。这种现象造成了多层面的文化冲突,也一定程度上削弱了印度民族的文化凝聚力。此外,在与英国殖民者交往中,印度人民开始觉醒并发现他们和英国殖民者之间并没有差别,他们有权利享有同等话语身份,而不是只能当英国殖民者的属下,他们可以成为自己国家的主人。当穆斯林与印度教徒意识到国家独立的重要性,他们选择团结起来抵制以及反抗殖民文化。他们为自己的话语权而斗争,为争取自由和解放而斗争,即使他们的能力有限。综上所述,本研究的目的是通过混杂现象来强调文化认知的重要性,强调被殖民者应坚持自己的文化身份,加强自身民族文化认知,从而促进民族文化凝聚力,共同努力实现民族独立。
