《宠儿》中的黑人母女关系研究

《宠儿》是美国黑人女作家托尼·莫里森的代表作之一,该书通过描写黑人母女的悲惨遭遇再现了美国蓄奴制给黑人女性带来的身体和精神的创伤。目前国内外对该作品的研究主要聚焦于结构特点、叙述方式、非洲传统文化、象征意义和母爱等视角,而对其中的母女关系的关注却显不足。笔者认为,母女关系是该作非常重要的一组人物关系,直接关系文本意义的理解和生发。因此,本文拟借助新历史主义、女性主义和精神分析等批评理论,对《宠儿》中的黑人母女关系进行解读,试图发现黑人女性遭遇不幸的深刻历史和文化根源。全文由四章组成。第一章梳理分析了国内外有关《宠儿》的研究状况和本论文的研究目的、意义和框架。第二章对《宠儿》中美国奴隶制时期黑人母女被迫分离的关系进行分析并指出殖民主义、种族主义和父权制是造成黑人母女分离的主要原因。第三章对《宠儿》在奴隶制废除后的母女之间的冲突关系进行了剖析,笔者认为,黑人母女所处的社会地位和文化价值观念的差异是造成小说中黑人母女关系紧张的重要缘由。第四章以小说中黑人母女的自我救赎之路为核心,指出黑人母女关系改善的关键在于正视历史,沿袭黑人文化传统,努力在白人主流社会中找寻自我。笔者在结论中指出,种族主义、父权制和文化差异是造成《宠儿》中黑人母女悲剧的根源,黑人女性应在种族主义和父权制的社会中应相互扶持、谅解;母亲应该起到文化传承的作用,女儿应主动了解母亲的遭遇和黑人历史,并在白人主流社会中宣扬女性的主体地位,这也是作者莫里森倡导黑人女性反抗白人主流文化和父权制的应有之义。
