《狼厅》中边缘人物的新历史主义解读

希拉里·曼特尔凭借其畅销小说《狼厅》（2009）和续篇《提堂》（2012）两度获得布克奖,她也是迄今为止唯一两次获此殊荣的女作家。《狼厅》是一部历史小说,它叙述了克伦威尔从一个铁匠的儿子攀爬为亨利八世最信任和最亲密的官员之一的故事。曼特尔不仅仅向我们揭示了都铎王朝残忍的社会现实,而且也像我们揭开了英国最神秘的一段历史。该小说以亨利八世的离婚案为线索,呼应了真实的历史背景。在《狼厅》中,希拉里·曼特尔不仅描述了国王对男继承人的渴望,都铎王朝与罗马天主教的决裂,宫廷中的斗争,而且还刻画了边缘人物的呐喊。通过他们的斗争与反抗,读者对16世纪的都铎王朝有了一个更清晰的了解。很多人都为该历史小说荣获布克奖而感到出乎意料。自获奖以来,该小说便受到了国内外读者的广泛关注。对该小说现存的研究主要是关于都铎王朝历史的重塑和主要人物托马斯·克伦威尔形象的重塑。基于现存的研究,本论文运用新历史主义和米歇尔·福柯的权力话语概念分析了《狼厅》中生活在都铎王朝的边缘人物。米歇尔·福柯是新历史主义最重要的代表人物之一。福柯关于权力和作者角色的概念对新历史主义理论有着巨大的影响。对于福柯来说,作者是被有权利决定话语的...
