意象·感觉·终结 ——超空间视野下《终结的感觉》中托尼的自我追寻

历史和回忆是英国后现代主义作家朱利安·巴恩斯文学作品的两大重要元素。其小说《终结的感觉》以回忆叙事展现了晚年托尼自我追寻的历程。本文运用詹姆逊的超空间理论对后现代文化进行较深入的挖掘,以小说中的重要意象和托尼断裂的记忆为主要研究对象,得出回忆和历史并不可靠的结论。此外,资本主义的第三次扩张和第四次科技革命使传统文化与后现代的经济结构和生产方式存在不协调和断裂,机械的复制和大规模的生产消解了历史和社会的真实性,人则处于超空间中。主体因为传统的生活经验和认知方式无法使其在新的环境中为自己准确定位和在认知上对世界进行测绘,所以产生迷茫感和终结感。本文共分五个部分。引言部分介绍作者和小说《终结的感觉》的主要内容,以及近五年来中国和外国学者对朱利安·巴恩斯及其小说《终结的感觉》的研究综述;第二部分主要研究小说中重要意象的空间隐喻;第三部分主要分析拼凑空间中断裂的记忆;第四部分探索超空间视野下小说中“终结”一词的含义,突出巴恩斯对自我、历史和文化的深刻认知,体现他对西方当代文化精神终结感的预测和忧患意识,同时揭示历史感的消逝和传统逻辑思维方式的失败体现在个人的终结中。个人的终结则源于主体身处超空间...
