弗兰克·麦吉尼斯被誉为当代爱尔兰剧作家中最高产、最杰出的代表之一。他的代表作《会有人看顾我》是基于黎巴嫩人质危机事件所创作,讲述了一名美国人、一名爱尔兰人、一名英国人在黎巴嫩被绑架和被一同监禁的经历。大多数评论聚焦于剧本中频现的民族刻板印象、人物的元戏剧经历、互文性。尽管身份问题有所涉及,大多数评论者忽略了舞台上缺席的角色,阿拉伯俘虏者,因而没能对剧本中呈现的多重身份进行讨论。本论文将借助斯图尔特·霍尔、爱德华·萨义德、朱迪斯·巴特勒等人的身份相关理论分析剧本中多重身份的建构与协商,挖掘麦吉尼斯对于身份以及因身份导致的冲突的思考。论文首先分析了三名人质的国家身份以及他们民族刻板印象式的人物形象。由于固守国家身份,爱尔兰人爱德华与英国人迈克尔频起冲突。第三方美国人亚当的调和、新团体的形成、对个体身份的关注、共性的挖掘、互相的关爱促成了他们之间冲突以及国家身份的协商。随后,论文讨论了人质与阿拉伯俘虏者之间的身份建构。通过将阿拉伯俘虏者和阿拉伯世界贬低和定型为劣等的东方人与东方,人质得以构建他们优越的西方人的集体身份。同时,双方都将对方视作毫无差别、敌对的他者。尽管人质有过协商冲突的积极尝试...
