【摘要】:成长作为人类生活中普遍存在的文化现象和人类生命个体的重要体验,为文学创作提供了广阔的空间,成为文学的一个永恒主题。在美国历史上,许多的著名作家创作出了大量的关于人们成长历程的作品。因此,美国文学中形成了一种独特模式——成长小说。 凯特·肖班是美国19世纪末期著名女性作家。在美国历史的特殊时期,女性被看做男性的私人财产,而肖班被认为是第一位具有自由和身份意识的女性作家。《觉醒》是当今文学界公认的肖班最优秀的作品。作品集中描写了主人公艾德娜的觉醒和成长。 肖班在《觉醒》的创作中沿袭了传统成长小说的模式,成长小说的典型特征在作品中显而易见。本论文试图在成长小说的视角下,从主题、结构和人物方面分析《觉醒》对传统成长小说的沿用,最终对《觉醒》是成长小说的观点做出相对完整的研究。 本论文分为5部分。 绪论部分介绍了凯特·肖班及其作品《觉醒》,综述了自小说问世后的研究,并且阐述了成长小说的理论。 第一章从两方面探析了《觉醒》的成长主题:作品自传成分和艾德娜的成长过程。第一部分通过对肖班和艾德娜的生活进行对比,显示了肖班和艾德娜拥有很多的相似之处并且有着相同的命运。肖班在艾德娜身上倾注了自己所有的情感和寄托,由此充分证明了作品的自传因素。第二部分主要阐述了艾德娜生活道路的选择、身体的觉醒、以及精神的觉醒。通过观察阿黛尔和瑞兹的生活方式,艾德娜既不愿意成为一名阿黛尔那样的家庭主妇,,也不愿意成为瑞兹那样的古怪的女人。艾德娜渴望独立,渴望追求爱和精神的自由,以及社会的认同。在她的成长过程中,艾德娜逐渐获得了身体和精神的觉醒,拥有了对自身美丽与需要的敏感,依靠绘画取得了经济的独立,并最终按照自己的意愿生活。 第二章从成长小说的基本叙事模式和开放的结局方面探讨了小说在结构方面所体现的成长小说的主要特征。小说的基本叙事结构为:天真——诱惑——出走——考验——迷惑——顿悟——拯救,由此显示了艾德娜在当时的社会环境下成长的艰难。在小说中,肖班对艾德娜自杀的描写具有模糊性,使作品与成长小说开放的结局相呼应。 第三章探究了《觉醒》中的人物。小说中的人物可根据在艾德娜的成长过程中所产生的不同影响,分为正面引路人和反面引路人。并且正是这些引路人促成了艾德娜的觉醒。此外,在小说中自然也被看做一种重要的精神指引,尤其是大海的影响。 论文最终以《觉醒》是一部关于艾德娜成长的成长小说结尾。在某种意义上,主人公从天真到成熟的成长历程是对所有人类共同命运的反映,从而对现世生活提供了某些暗示和启发。
[Abstract]:The cultural phenomenon of human life growth as a widespread and important experience of human life, provides a broad space for literature creation, become an eternal theme in literature. In the history of the United States, many famous writers have produced a large number of people grow history works. Therefore, the formation of American literature a unique mode of Bildungsroman.
Kate Chopin is a famous female writer in the United States at the end of nineteenth Century. In the special period of American history, women are seen as men's private property, and Chopin is believed to be the first with freedom and identity consciousness of female writers. The awakening is the well-known literature > Chopin best works. The novel focuses on the protagonist Edna's awakening and growth.
Xiao Ban in the creation of < > awakening follows the traditional Bildungsroman model, typical features of Bildungsroman in the works obviously. This paper tries to from the perspective of Bildungsroman, theme, structure and characters of < > to follow the awakening of the traditional Bildungsroman of Bildungsroman is < > awakening view a comparatively comprehensive research.
This paper is divided into 5 parts.
The introduction introduces Kate Chopin and his works "awakening", summarizes the research after the novel and expounds the theory of the growth novel.
The first chapter from the two aspects of the "theme of growth: the growth process of awakening > theautobiographical components and Edna. The first part through comparing the Chopin and Edna's life, showing that Chopin and Edna have many similarities and have the same fate. Chopin in Edna who devoted all their emotions and this fully proves that sustenance, the autobiographical components. The second part mainly expounds Edna's choice of life, body awareness, and the awakening of the spirit. By observing the Adele and Ruiz lifestyle, AI Dena neither willing to become a housewife like Adele, would not be an odd woman like Reisz Edna is eager to independence, longing for love and spiritual freedom, and social identity. In her growth process, Edna gradually gained the body and spirit The awakening has the sensitivity to its own beauty and needs, and relies on painting to achieve economic independence and ultimately to live according to his own wishes.
The second chapter discusses the main features of the novel embodied in the structure of the Bildungsroman from Bildungsroman basic narrative mode and open ending. The basic structure of the novels: innocence temptation - - leaving suffering confusion - epiphany salvation, which shows the growth of Edna at the time of the social environment is difficult. The third chapter explores the awakening of the characters in < >. The characters in the novel according to the different influence in the growth process of Edna, divided into positive and negative guide guide. And it is the guides help ednagain her awakening. In addition, in the novel, nature also is seen as an important the guidance of the spirit, especially the sea.
In the end, the awakening is the ending of a growth story about Edna's growth. In a sense, the hero's growth process from innocence to maturity is a reflection of the common fate of all mankind, so as to provide some hints and inspiration for the real life.
