《赎罪》的叙事伦理研究

【摘要】:伊恩麦克尤恩是英国文坛当前最具影响力的作家之一。自他的第一本短篇小说集《最初的爱情和最后的仪式》获得1975年的毛姆奖以来,他又四次获得布克奖提名,并终于在1998年以《阿姆斯特丹》折桂。于2001年出版的《赎罪》亦赢得了包括美国国家书评奖在内的多项殊荣。 《赎罪》自出版以来,国外一些评论家就从不同的角度对其进行了探讨和评论。这部小说从内容上来说,沿袭了伊恩麦克尤恩对人的灵魂本质的终极探索,但相对与以前短篇小说内容的“恐怖”主题,该小说显得很温情,但是循规守旧绝不是麦克尤恩的性格。虽然《赎罪》的题材相对温和,但是它在现代叙事手法技巧的运用上却是独具匠心。笔者主要通过对《赎罪》叙事手法的分析,试图寻找到麦克尤恩在技巧之下所掩盖的伦理问题,希望可以体察麦克尤恩在对小说叙述模式精雕细琢的良苦用心。 近年来对尹恩·麦克尤恩的研究从内容到形式不一而足。例如,有人关注他对两性关系的重构,有人关注他孩童题材的作品,有人研究其精湛的叙事手法。笔者以麦克尤恩《赎罪》中精当的现代小说技巧和其所蕴含的严肃的伦理道德主题赎罪为研究对象,,运用一种新的研究理论“叙事伦理”试图说明叙事技巧所表现出的伦理意义。这是一次大胆的尝试,是将对文本的形式研究与内容研究的一种结合。 我的论文主要采用文本细读的方法,将立论的基础放在文本细读上。同时采用了叙述学,叙事伦理以及元小说批评理论,来说明叙事技巧所表达的伦理意义。这些方法有些非常成熟,有些则还在起步阶段,难免会存在使用不当的地方。 论文的第一部分,从叙事学理论中的故事层次角度出发,分析了小说的多视角的叙事手法,以及由视角选择所决定的叙述伦理意义。不同视角造成的伦理多层次性,使整部小说的内涵更加丰富。 论文的第二部分,从叙事学理论中的话语层次角度出发,整理小说的发生时间,找出因为作者对故事发生时间的修饰,所造成的主要人物的伦理境遇,通过对伦理境遇的分析,来判断作者的伦理观。 论文的第三部分,通过对《赎罪》中“元小说”手法的分析,归结出小说与读者的叙述交流模式,进而来探究作者在进行文学创作时的伦理困境,对文学的作用,进行深刻地思考。
[Abstract]:Ian McEwan is one of the most influential writers in English literature. Since his first collection of short stories, the first Love and the Last ceremony, won the 1975 Maugham Award, he was nominated four times for the Booker Prize, and finally in 1998 for his book Amsterdam. Atonement, published in 2001, has also won many awards, including the National Book Awards. Since its publication, some foreign critics have discussed and commented on it from different angles. In terms of content, the novel follows Ian McEwan's ultimate exploration of the essence of the human soul, but it is tender relative to the "horror" theme of previous short stories. But conformism is by no means McEwan's character. Although the subject matter of Atonement is relatively mild, it is unique in the use of modern narrative techniques. Through the analysis of the narrative techniques of Atonement, the author tries to find out the ethical problems that McEwan covered up under his technique, hoping to understand McEwan's painstaking intentions in the elaboration of the narrative model of the novel. In recent years, the study of Ian McEwan has varied from content to form. For example, some people pay attention to his reconstruction of gender relations, some pay attention to his children's works, others study his exquisite narrative techniques. The author takes the fine modern novel techniques and the serious ethical theme of atonement in McEwan's Atonement as the object of study. Using a new research theory, narrative ethics, attempts to explain the ethical significance of narrative techniques. This is a bold attempt to combine the formal study of text with the study of content. My thesis mainly adopts the method of text reading, and puts the foundation of argument on text reading. At the same time, narratology, narrative ethics and metafiction criticism theory are used to illustrate the ethical significance of narrative techniques. Some of these methods are very mature, while others are still in their infancy. In the first part of the thesis, from the perspective of story level in narratology, the author analyzes the narrative techniques of the novel from multiple perspectives and the ethical significance of narration determined by the choice of perspective. The multi-level ethics caused by different perspectives enriches the connotation of the whole novel. The second part of the thesis, from the perspective of discourse level in narrative theory, arranges the time of the occurrence of the novel, finds out the ethical circumstances of the main characters caused by the author's modification of the occurrence time of the story, through the analysis of the ethical situation. To judge the author's ethics. The third part of the thesis, through the analysis of the "meta-novel" in Atonement, summarizes the narrative communication mode between the novel and the reader, and then explores the ethical dilemma and the role of the author in literary creation. Think deeply.
