[Abstract]:Twilight is a series of novels by American white woman writer Stephanie Mayer. The first Twilight was written in 2003, and Mel completed the Twilight four-part at an annual rate. This series of novels tells the love story between the human girl Bella and vampire Edward, through female Gothic to show the heroine Bella brave, The quality of persistence. The 21st century Gothic literature continues the thread of the traditional Gothic. The impression of the traditional Gothic is often dark and obscure, repellent, but due to the changes of the times and the writer's step by step innovation, The Gothic plot became more and more popular. The disillusionment and evil factors which appear in the traditional Gothic are gradually desalinated in the new century literature, and the good side of the Gothic protagonists is more excavated by people and injected into the factors of the times. The characteristic of female Gothic doctrine is to highlight the consciousness of female resistance and struggle against the background of gloomy terror. Most of the heroes are scary monsters or high-ranking characters. In the oppressive environment, women can highlight the repression and the resistance in them. In the 21st century, the theme of female Gothic still takes the pain and struggle of women as the main clue, and often shows the strength and perseverance of independent women. Stephanie Mayer's Twilight Saga is a very important subject matter for feminism in modern times. This paper analyzes the female Gothic elements in the heroine Bella from the angle of female Gothic doctrine. Her kind nature and the spirit of pursuing love without fear of hardship and danger are the places that people in modern society need to think about and learn from. Her precious spirit is that she tries hard to cross the limit of status class for true love, not afraid of patriarchal and social pressure, insisting on her own love, and never fails. This thesis is divided into four parts: the first part is a brief introduction to the author and Twilight. This paper introduces the origin of Mel's creative thoughts and the story of the heroines Bella and Edward. The second part briefly introduces the development and changes from Gothic doctrine to female Gothic doctrine. Gothic doctrine began to develop from the earliest thriller Dracula. Later, the integration of female elements, evolved into female Gothic. Female Gothic doctrine was first put forward by American writers, and now it is often used by American writers. From the traditional Gothic doctrine to the modern female writer's tender ideal love story, it has experienced the change of the times. The third part analyzes the feminist elements of the heroine Bella from the perspective of female Gothic. Bella breaks through the obstacles that ordinary people can not surmount, she can break through the barriers of race and resist the pressure of family and society. Always with Edward the vampire. Shy and introverted, Bella broke out in Edward's trapped situation and succeeded in rescuing Edward. Her devotion to vampire Edward reveals modern women's deep desire for love and their good nature. The unnatural factors in the novel play the role of setting off the story plot and highlight Bella's female Gothic spirit. The fourth part is the summary part. This part summarizes the female Gothic spirit in the heroine Bella, and points out the contribution of the female Gothic innovation in this paper. Stephanie Mayer expresses Gothic feminism with aesthetically written ink, which makes Bella indomitable spirit, both firm and feminine.
