[Abstract]:Doris Lessing, winner of the 2007 Nobel Prize for Literature, made great contributions to postwar English literature. Lessing lived in a colony early, so she experienced the evils of colonialism and the hardships of living as a woman in such an environment. After becoming a writer, Lessing paid continuous attention to the living state of women and the perfection of their own identity, especially the description of how women pursue their complete identity in his works was highly praised by feminists. In Lessing's masterpiece, Wild Grass in singing, she describes a white woman, Mary, who was oppressed by patriarchy and colonialism, who suffered from identity crisis, experienced self-salvation but failed to end her life. Has the very strong representativeness and the warning function. Scholars at home and abroad have studied Doris Lessing's Wild Grass singing from a variety of perspectives with fruitful results, from the perspective of post-colonialism, feminism and eco-feminism, respectively. Psychological analysis and dual opposition deconstruction and other perspectives of analysis and research. However, the existing studies on identity mainly focus on black people under colonial rule, especially black women. To some extent, this ignores white women in the same social background, they also face identity dilemma. This paper attempts to reveal the internalization of colonial thought in colonial society by analyzing the identity of the other marginalized white women, the course of their self-identity reconstruction and the social and spiritual factors that cause the crisis of their identity. The penetration of patriarchy exerts double oppression on women and the awakening and strength of female self-consciousness are of great significance to self-reconstruction. In Doris Lessing's Wild Grass in singing, Mary, the protagonist, is a white female representative who is in a colonial society and has been trying all her life to get rid of her other identity. This paper uses diachronic method to analyze how Mary reconstructs her identity as a white woman in different periods. This paper analyzes the three stages of Mary's reconstruction of her identity through three chapters: Mary's childhood, Mary's adulthood and Mary's marriage. In these three periods, Mary tried to change the low social status of the traditional women by refusing marriage, striving actively for the job opportunities to achieve the goal of economic independence. After marriage because of the desire for freedom and resolutely escape from the bondage of marriage and with the question of colonial ideology the pursuit of true love. At the same time, Mary completed the transformation from unconscious resistance to conscious pursuit in the process of self-redemption. By using the diachronic method, this paper, on the one hand, explores the external and internal causes of Mary's failure in self-reconstruction. In order to help readers realize that Mary suffered the patriarchal values of the dominant colonial society and witness Mary as a contemporary white women on behalf of their identity of the continuous pursuit of integrity. At the same time, women's seeking for their identity integrity coincides with the contemporary feminist movement, so this paper can provide reference for women's identity seeking and promote the emancipation of women. In addition, this paper also hopes to serve as a warning to the majority of marginalized women and to put forward some practical suggestions on self-reconstruction for modern women facing difficulties.
