雪莱戏剧《钦契》的哥特特征及其政治影射

作为英国浪漫主义时期的卓越诗人,雪莱的诗歌大多是人们耳熟能详的,而其五幕诗剧《钦契》却相对受关注较少。国外相关研究数量不多,而且主要集中在个别领域;国内系统的研究尤显匮乏。事实上,《钦契》的许多文学特质具有一定学术价值,能够为深入研究提供不胜枚举的切入点。本文采用“文类学研究”作为理论框架,探讨《钦契》是否属于哥特文类的范畴;剖析其具有哪些显著的哥特特征;这些特征反应了雪莱怎样的政治观,有何深层次的社会意义。 全文共由五个部分构成:第一部分引言首先回顾了国内外对戏剧《钦契》的研究现状。其次简要阐明了哥特文类与《钦契》的内在联系及其意义。 第一章从时代背景出发,介绍了哥特文类和浪漫主义的渊源。并从社会现实、哲学传统及宗教影响等角度细化了浪漫主义时期影响哥特文类的诸多因素。继而探究身处该时代的诗人雪莱,对哥特文类的继承和《钦契》的创作动机。 第二章是对《钦契》中哥特元素的归纳整理,包括人物、场景、主题三个方面,这是判定该戏剧为哥特文类的重要依据。 第三章深入挖掘文本,探究《钦契》剧中人物与当时英国政治的影射关系,以此探究雪莱本人的政治立场及创作意图。 末尾部分为结论。结论总结了《钦契》中人物、场景、主题方面所蕴含的丰富哥特元素,并肯定了该戏剧属于哥特文类;同时揭示,整个剧本缜密的结构深刻展现了雪莱对当时黑暗社会现实的严肃思考,以哥特戏剧的形式暗表政治立场亦为雪莱的创新之处。
