理学中的“统一”概念与利玛窦对理学的接受

  这篇论文试图回答两个问题:一、十七世纪欧洲作家描述中国的时候,为什么他们不愿意接受新儒家的“统一”概念作为事物共同起源的这种思想?进而转向第二个问题,即宋明理学家究竟是如何处理统一问题的?对这两个问题的问答是本文一般的脉络。而回答这两个问题主要基于三种的文字材料:第一种材料是在欧洲由耶稣会家所出版的描述中国古代哲学的书籍;第二种材料是利玛窦写给中国知识分子的书籍(特别是他的对话式著作——《天主实义》);第三种材料是宋明理学原文,特别是被耶稣会传教士所阅读关注的文字作品。研究问的答案基于两个假设:一、在近代早期,在欧洲,中国思想家对“统一“概念的想象方式变得流行;二、欧洲早现代作家对中国哲学的理解来自他们对送命理学思想的接受(其中特别与对理学中的“统一”概念的态度有关系)。在第一章中,论文讨论了早现代欧洲作家对中国哲学有什么样的想象,使用和收集了哪些中国文献。耶稣会传教士对理学的理解最重要文本是《性理大全》,特别对《太极图说》的评注和其中两篇关于“气”和“理”的文章。文章标明耶稣会作家对评注与其他理学家的文本的态度形成了一个鲜明的区别。结果是在十七世纪的欧洲,理学的形象经常被认为是反对中国...
