芝加哥大学社会学学科快速建成世界一流学科的过程及原因(19世纪末至20世纪30年代中期)

【摘要】:20世纪30年代中期,美国出现了历史上的第一个社会学学派,也就是芝加哥大学社会学学派。它的出现很大程度上标志着芝加哥大学社会学学科发展高峰的形成。在这一时期,芝加哥大学社会学学科不但建成了以城市问题为导向的学术研究中心,还构建了强大的社会学学术梯队,涌现了大批先进的学术成果,并最终建成了举世闻名的学术共同体。回顾芝加哥大学社会学学科建设的历史,其快速崛起过程主要经历了三个发展阶段。19世纪末,以研究型大学的出现为契机,凭借欧洲和美国本土的社会学思想给养,芝加哥大学通过建系、创刊等措施,率先完成了社会学学科的基层组织建设,走上了这门新兴学科的发展之路。到了20世纪初,外部社会环境的变化,加上其他高校社会学学科的后续发展,给芝加哥大学社会学学科提出了新的发展任务。在已有建设的基础上,芝加哥大学社会学学系通过扩大学科人员规模、加强学生培养等措施,使得社会学学科走进了学术发展的新台阶。而从20世纪20年代中期开始,凭借外部的大规模资助,芝加哥大学社会学学科又瞄准层出不穷的城市化问题,快速革新内部机制,并将其辐射到研究过程的各项环节,进而快速崛起为芝加哥大学社会学学派。芝加哥大学社会学学科的快速崛起以及一流学科地位的最终确立,背后包含了学科建设的一些普遍要素,突出表现在其学术团队的构建、发展机制的创新、学科理论的探索、学科人才的培养等方面,对这几个方面的分析恰恰能够为我国一流学科的建设工作提供一些有价值的参照。
[Abstract]:In the mid-1930 s, the first sociological school appeared in America, that is, the Sociology School of the University of Chicago. To a large extent, it marks the formation of the high development of sociology at the University of Chicago. During this period, the sociology discipline of the University of Chicago not only built a city-oriented academic research center, but also constructed a strong sociological academic echelon, and a large number of advanced academic achievements emerged. And finally built a world-famous academic community. Looking back on the history of sociology discipline construction at the University of Chicago, its rapid rise has mainly experienced three stages of development. At the end of the 19th century, the emergence of research universities was taken as an opportunity to rely on the sociological ideas of Europe and the United States. The University of Chicago took the lead in the construction of the basic organization of sociology through the establishment of the department and the founding of the journal, and embarked on the road of the development of this new discipline. At the beginning of the 20th century, the changes of the external social environment and the subsequent development of other sociology disciplines in colleges and universities put forward a new development task for the sociology discipline of the University of Chicago. On the basis of the existing construction, the Department of Sociology of the University of Chicago has stepped into a new stage of academic development by expanding the scale of subject personnel and strengthening the cultivation of students. Since the mid-1920s, with large-scale external funding, the sociology discipline of the University of Chicago has aimed at the endless problems of urbanization, rapidly innovating the internal mechanism, and radiating it to all aspects of the research process. And then quickly emerged as the sociology school of the University of Chicago. The rapid rise of the sociology discipline of the University of Chicago and the final establishment of the status of the first-class discipline contain some common elements of the discipline construction, which are highlighted in the construction of its academic team, the innovation of the development mechanism, and the exploration of the discipline theory. The analysis of these aspects can provide some valuable reference for the construction of the first-class discipline in our country.
