培养整全之人:大变革时代的美国大学理念焕新及其启示

【摘要】:19世纪末20世纪初,南北战争结束后的美国社会进入快速发展期,大学也迎来了大变革时代。这一阶段美国大学的显性特征是办学规模的膨胀和现代体制的确立,实质上更深刻的内在变化是理念的焕新。基于对功利主义教育和研究型大学的反思,以洛厄尔为首的改革者整合古典自由教育的修辞学和哲学两大理路,提出了"培养整全之人"的教育理念,并从建造书院、重构课程和奖励学业三个方面着手建构大学文化共同体,以提升大学品质、塑造公民性格。
[Abstract]:At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, American society entered a period of rapid development after the end of the Civil War, and universities ushered in the era of great change. The dominant feature of American universities at this stage is the expansion of the school-running scale and the establishment of the modern system. In essence, the more profound internal changes are the renewal of the concept. Based on the reflection on utilitarian education and research-oriented universities, the reformers, led by Lowell, integrated the rhetoric and philosophy of classical free education, and put forward the educational idea of "cultivating the integrator", and from the construction of the academy, In order to improve the quality of university and shape the character of citizens, we set out to construct the cultural community of universities in the three aspects of curriculum reconstruction and reward study.
