教育的代际传递:基于家庭生产理论的经验证据

【摘要】:利用中国教育跟踪调查(China Education Panel Survey,CEPS) 2013-2014 年基线调查数据,以家庭生产理论为基础,本研究构建了父母教育水平对子女教育产出影响的解释框架,以此分析中国社会教育代际传递的程度、异质性以及形成机制。本研究使用大规模的基础调查微观数据,将中国义务教育政策的实行视为外生的自然实验作为父母受教育水平的工具变量,利用两阶段最小二乘法,分析了教育的代际传递,即父母受教育程度对子女教育产出的净影响。本研究的主要贡献在于,用中国数据论证了父母受教育程度与子女教育产出的因果关系,并进一步分析了这种关系在不同家庭的表现异质性。通过对CEPS数据进行微观计量分析,发现如下研究结论:最小二乘法估计低估了父母受教育水平对子女教育产出的影响,即中国教育代际传递程度被低估。母亲完成义务教育对子女教育产出具有显著影响;父亲完成义务教育对子女教育产出没有显著影响,但父亲受教育年限对子女教育产出有显著影响。父母完成义务教育的情况对子女教育产出的影响也具有异质性:城市儿童和女生受到的影响更大以及母亲受教育水平对子女教育产出影响更大。教育代际传递主要通过改变家庭文化资本、经济收入和社会资本三个方面来实现。本研究的政策启示是:政府应着力开展“精准扶智”工作,通过识别帮扶对象以及帮扶需求,使帮扶重点向低教育程度家庭的女性成员倾斜,并注重对城市弱势家庭的教育扶贫。
[Abstract]:Based on the baseline survey data of China Education Panel Survey in 2013-2014, and based on the family production theory, this study constructed an explanatory framework for the influence of parents' education level on their children's educational output.This paper analyzes the degree, heterogeneity and formation mechanism of intergenerational transmission of social education in China.Based on the microcosmic data of large-scale basic investigation, this study regards the implementation of China's compulsory education policy as an exogenous natural experiment as a tool variable of parents' educational level, and analyzes the intergenerational transmission of education by using the two-stage least square method.That is, the net effect of parents' educational level on their children's educational output.The main contribution of this study is to use Chinese data to demonstrate the causal relationship between parents' educational level and their children's educational output, and to further analyze the heterogeneity of this relationship in different families.Through microeconometric analysis of CEPS data, the following conclusions are found: the least square estimation underestimates the influence of parents' educational level on their children's educational output, that is, the degree of education transmission between generations in China is underestimated.Mother's completion of compulsory education has a significant influence on children's educational output, while father's completion of compulsory education has no significant influence on children's educational output, but father's years of schooling have a significant influence on children's educational output.The effect of parents' completion of compulsory education on children's educational output is also heterogeneity: urban children and girls are more affected and mothers' education level has more influence on children's educational output.Education intergenerational transmission is mainly realized by changing family cultural capital, economic income and social capital.The policy implications of this study are as follows: the government should focus on the work of "precision support for intelligence", by identifying the object of help and the need to help, so that the focus of help is inclined to the female members of the low-educated family.And pay attention to the education of disadvantaged families in the city poverty alleviation.
