文化平等与民主宽容——泰勒“承认政治”理论的突破与困境

【摘要】:社群主义者查尔斯·泰勒认为,存在于近现代西方社会中的两种追求平等承认的政治——普遍主义的尊严政治和特殊主义的差异政治——都有缺陷:前者表面提倡中立,内里却充满文化优越感,对非主流的文化采取无视态度;而后者则带有种族主义倾向,过于注重差异而不愿承认生活的交流本质。泰勒提出承认的政治以超越二者,他试图同时满足个体的特殊内在取向和共同体对普遍规范的要求,并通过对话调和族群主义政治和自由主义政治间的剧烈冲突,从而为修整和保卫自由的社会制度打下基础。但是,泰勒的这一理论构想遭到了哈贝马斯等学者鞭辟入里的批评,而这也将延续并丰富相关的学术争论。
[Abstract]:Charles Taylor, a communitarianism, argues that the two politics that seek equal recognition in modern Western societies-the dignity politics of universalism and the differential politics of particularity-are flawed: the former prima facie advocates neutrality. However, there is a sense of cultural superiority and disregard of the non-mainstream culture. The latter, with racist tendencies, overemphasizes differences rather than acknowledging the communicative nature of life. Taylor proposes that the politics of recognition transcend the two. He tries to satisfy both the special internal orientation of the individual and the demands of the community on universal norms, and to reconcile the violent conflict between the politics of ethnotism and the politics of liberalism through dialogue. So as to repair and safeguard the freedom of the social system laid the foundation. However, Taylor's theory has been criticized by Habermas and other scholars, which will continue and enrich the relevant academic debate.
