语篇阅读理解中情绪的垂直空间隐喻

【摘要】:在《我们赖以生存的隐喻》一书中,Lakoff和Johnson提出隐喻普遍存在于我们的日常生活中,包含在语言,思维和行为中。他们认为在所有隐喻中空间隐喻是最重要和最基本的认知域。垂直空间隐喻是从上-下空间方位概念映射到其他认知域的认知方式。本论文通过三个实验来考察语篇阅读中“快乐是上,悲伤是下”这一情绪的垂直空间隐喻的心理现实性。 实验1要求被试阅读情绪语篇后,对呈现在屏幕上方或下方的字母“F”或“J”进行反应。目的在于探讨情绪语篇是否会产生垂直空间隐喻。结果发现,阅读积极情绪语篇的被试对呈现在空间位置上方的对象反应快,阅读消极情绪语篇的被试对呈现在空间位置下方的对象反应快,,表明语篇中存在情绪的垂直空间隐喻的始源域向目标域的映射。 实验2要求被试阅读含有空间位移的语篇后对呈现在屏幕中央的图片中面孔人物的性别进行判断。目的在于探讨阅读含有不同的空间位移的语篇是否影响被试对不同情绪图片的反应。结果发现被试阅读含有空间中向上或向下移动的语篇后对呈现于屏幕中央的积极情绪图片和消极情绪图片的反应时间没有显著差异。 实验3是对实验2的实验方法做了一点修正,即将语篇之后在屏幕中央呈现的图片改在屏幕的上方或下方随机呈现。由于图片在屏幕中的呈现位置是随机化的,其呈现位置对实验结果的影响已经被平衡了,因此可以不考虑情绪图片的呈现位置对实验结果造成的影响,这里只是激活了情绪图片的空间表征。结果发现被试阅读含有在空间中向上移动的语篇后对积极情绪图片反应更快,阅读含有在空间中向下移动的语篇后对消极情绪图片的反应更快,说明语篇中存在情绪的垂直空间隐喻的目标域向始源域的映射。 研究表明:语篇情境中存在情绪的垂直空间隐喻,并且空间这一始源域和情绪这一目标域具有双向映射的性质。
[Abstract]:In the book Metaphor on which We Live, Lakoff and Johnson argue that metaphor is ubiquitous in our everyday life, encompassing language, thought and behavior. They believe that spatial metaphor is the most important and basic cognitive domain of all metaphors. Vertical spatial metaphor is a mapping from the concept of upper-lower spatial orientation to other cognitive domains. In this paper, three experiments are conducted to examine the psychological reality of the vertical spatial metaphor of "happiness is above, sadness is below" in text reading.
In experiment 1, subjects were asked to react to the letters "F" or "J" presented above or below the screen after reading emotional texts. The aim was to explore whether there was vertical spatial metaphor in emotional texts. Subjects responded quickly to objects presented below the spatial position, indicating that the source domain of vertical spatial metaphor in a text is mapped to the target domain.
In experiment 2, subjects were asked to read texts with spatial shifts and then judge the gender of the faces in the pictures presented in the center of the screen. The purpose was to explore whether reading texts with different spatial shifts affected the responses of subjects to different emotional pictures. There was no significant difference in reaction time between positive and negative emotional pictures in the center of the screen.
Experiment 3 revised the experimental method of experiment 2, that is, the pictures presented in the center of the screen after the text were randomly displayed above or below the screen. The results showed that the subjects reacted more quickly to the positive emotional pictures after reading the texts containing moving upward in space, and reacted more quickly to the negative emotional pictures after reading the texts containing moving downward in space. The mapping of the target domain of the metaphors in the vertical space to the Siwon domain.
The results show that there exists a vertical spatial metaphor of emotion in discourse context, and the two-way mapping between the source domain of space and the target domain of emotion.
