【摘要】：谭恩美于2013年出版了《惊奇山谷》,小说讲述了一个具有极大空间跨度结构的故事。本文以亨利·列斐伏尔的《空间的生产》中所提出的空间叙事理论为依据,从物理空间、社会空间和心理空间方面分析故事主角的悲剧命运。物理空间为故事的发生提供了一个背景。小说中每一地点的出现,都有其象征意义。惊奇山谷作为小说中的梦幻之地,对于露西亚和维奥莱特象征着爱和希望。海市蜃楼象征着露西亚所追逐的爱情是一种幻觉。藏玉阁目睹了露西亚的事业成功和被欺骗的命运,同时也承载了维奥莱特的幸福岁月。宁静楼带给维奥莱特的是苦难和被压迫的命运,月池村见证了维奥莱特忍耐和被欺骗的命运。此外,社会空间不仅包含了社会和现实创造的真实空间,更包括了各种促使物体和信息交流的关系。政治环境影响社会空间。个人主义使得露西亚能不顾他人言语去做决定;集体主义使得卢兴将家庭地位置于个人需要之前,从而抛弃露西亚。不同的成长背景也铸就了维奥莱特和宝葫芦的不同命运。此外,心理空间是内部空间,展现了了人物行为的内在动机。露西亚和维奥莱特都经历了身份危机,他们最初鄙夷中国传统文化,但最终却认同该文化。他们在中国的命运和遭遇随着他们文化认同的态度的转变而改变。露西亚和维奥莱特的爱情观和事业观决定着他们的行为,而他们的行为造就了他们不同的命运。简言之,论文可得出以下结论:小说中四位主要人物的命运皆有悲剧性,但又各有特点。
