船员在英语面试中的语用策略分析

【摘要】:船员面试和其他面试一样,往往是船东筛选船员最重要的一环。但是由于面试语境中交际双方明显的地位和权势上的悬殊,使得处于弱势的船员在面试中除了具备扎实的英语听、说能力外,还应积极采取有效的语用策略,使自己最终取得面试官的认同,获得有利于自己的结果。对此,本文以合作原则和礼貌原则为理论基础,采取定性和定量相结合的分析方法。为了反映船员英语面试语境的特点,作者搜集了船员外派公司中已经成功通过面试的船员参加面试的实地录音,并将录音转换为文字的形式以便研究。30名船员在英语面试中的录音被用来作为本研究的语料样本。基于具体的统计数据围绕合作原则和礼貌原则下的准则,分析合作原则和礼貌原则在船员英语面试中的应用以及如何利用有效的语用策略提高面试成功率。研究结果表明:在船员面试语境中,为了使交谈满足面试官的要求并不失礼貌被面试者的回答高度遵守合作原则和礼貌原则。少数回答中,为实现对自身有利的目的,被面试者选择违反合作原则和礼貌原则中的某些准则。此外,在船员英语面试语境中,被面试者对合作原则和礼貌原则下的每一个准则的使用也有其相应的特点。通过研究,本文分析了在船员面试语境中,成功的被面试者如何应用合作原则和礼貌原则来提高面试成功率。分析结果对准备参加英语面试的船员具有参考意义,为他们更加有效的应用语用策略带来一定的启示。
[Abstract]:Crew interviews, like other interviews, are often the most important part of shipowners' screening. However, due to the obvious differences in status and power between the two sides in the interview context, the vulnerable crew members should adopt effective pragmatic strategies in addition to having a solid English listening and speaking ability in the interview. Make yourself finally get the interviewer's approval and get results that are good for you. Based on the cooperative principle and politeness principle, this paper adopts qualitative and quantitative analysis methods. In order to reflect the characteristics of the English interview context of the crew, the author collected the on-the-spot recordings of the crew members who had successfully passed the interview in the crew assignment company. The recording was converted into text form to study the recording of 30 crew members in English interview. Based on the specific statistical data, this paper analyzes the application of cooperative and politeness principles in crew English interview and how to use effective pragmatic strategies to improve the success rate of interview. The results show that in the context of crew interview, in order to make the conversation meet the requirements of the interviewer, the interviewee's reply is highly obedient to the principle of cooperation and politeness. In a few responses, the interviewees chose to violate some of the principles of cooperation and politeness in order to achieve a self-beneficial purpose. In addition, in the context of crew English interview, the interviewee's use of each criterion under the principle of cooperation and politeness also has its own characteristics. Based on the research, this paper analyzes how successful interviewees apply the principles of cooperation and politeness to improve the interview success rate in the context of crew interview. The results are useful to the crew members who are preparing to attend English interviews and provide some enlightenment for their more effective application of pragmatic strategies.
