英文学术论文中的言据性与作者身份构建

【摘要】:语言的言据性作为一种重要的语言现象,反映了说话者对知识的来源以及态度的说明。国内外对言据性的研究并不多见,且研究范围多局限于语义学领域,应用语言学角度的研究更是少之又少。学术论文作为一种作者高度参与的社会化行为,其过程反映出作者通过与读者的交互性交流以构建身份。但国内外关于作者身份构建的研究大多集中于对第一人称代词的研究。因此,本文试图将二者结合起来作一次跨学科探索。本文在已有的理论框架下,以言据性资源为出发点,对比分析英文学术论文中中、外学者如何运用言据性资源来构建身份以及由此呈现出的异同。本研究是一项定量和定性相结合的实证研究,分为两个阶段。研究的第一阶段:收集和描写语料。采用随机抽样法,从应用语言学核心期刊《第二语言写作杂志》、《语用学杂志》和《专业英语》上共选取60篇英文学术论文(各期刊20篇,其中分别包括中、外学者所著论文各10篇)作为语料建立语料库。以Chafe和胡壮麟所提出的言据性据素分类模式为理论框架,并根据本文对言据性资源的识解与分类对语料进行统一标识。然后通过Antconc和Log-Likelihood Calculator软件对数据进行统计,讨论言据性据素在中、外学者英文学术论文中的分布数量和频率,以及探究它们之间的显著性差异。研究的第二阶段:结合文献分析法,在第一阶段的基础上对统计结果进行分析和说明。通过探究,得出如下结论:(1)本文以对言据性广义范畴的认知为基础,发现英文学术论文中用于构建作者身份的言据性资源普遍存在,主要体现为信念、推测、传闻、信度和预期五类据素范畴。(2)五类据素的分布各有异同。中国作者所著的英文学术论文中,据素的总体使用频数以及频率较之于外国作者要低。但相同之处在于推测据素和传闻据素的使用频率均远远大于信念、信度和预期据素的使用频率,具有一致性。(3)英文学术论文中,作者身份主要体现在作者自我和语篇自我两个层面上。中国作者注重语篇自我的构建,而外国作者更加表露出对作者自我的重视。(4)作者身份通过言据性据素显示出来,言据性可以从作者的权威性以及可靠性方面帮助构建作者身份。本研究涉及语义学、应用语言学及统计科学,属于跨学科探索。文章对构建作者身份的语言资源,即言据性的探讨,较为全面地揭示了中、外学者学术写作中文化差异所在。希望本文能够为言据性研究提供一个新的视角,同时也为学术写作者形成构建意识提供一定的借鉴意义。
[Abstract]:As an important linguistic phenomenon, the textual nature of language reflects the speaker's explanation of the source and attitude of knowledge. There are few researches on verbal substantiality at home and abroad, and the scope of research is limited to the field of semantics, and the study of applied linguistics is even less. As a highly social behavior, the author's process reflects the author's identity through interactive communication with the reader. However, most of the researches on the author's identity construction at home and abroad focus on the first-person pronouns. Therefore, this paper attempts to combine the two for a cross-disciplinary exploration. This paper, based on the existing theoretical framework, makes a comparative analysis of how foreign scholars use verbal resources to construct their identities and the similarities and differences they present in English academic papers. This study is a quantitative and qualitative empirical study, divided into two stages. The first stage of the study: collecting and describing corpus. By random sampling, a total of 60 English academic papers were selected from the core journals of Applied Linguistics, the Journal of second language Writing, the Journal of Pragmatics and Professional English. Each of 10 papers written by foreign scholars is used as a corpus to build a corpus. This paper takes the categorization model of declarative evidential primes proposed by Chafe and Hu Zhuanglin as the theoretical framework, and unifies the identification and classification of the corpus according to the interpretation and classification of evidential resources in this paper. Then the data are statistically analyzed by Antconc and Log-Likelihood Calculator software to discuss the distribution quantity and frequency in Chinese and foreign scholars' English academic papers and to explore the significant differences between them. The second stage of the study: combined with the literature analysis, the statistical results are analyzed and explained on the basis of the first stage. The conclusions are as follows: (1) on the basis of the cognition of the broad category of verbal nature, this paper finds that the verbal resources used to construct the author's identity in English academic papers are ubiquitous, mainly embodied in belief, speculation, hearsay, etc. Reliability and expectation. (2) there are similarities and differences in the distribution of five kinds of evidences. In the English academic papers written by Chinese authors, the overall frequency and frequency of use of elements is lower than that of foreign authors. But the similarity lies in the fact that the frequency of use of speculated and hearsay evidence is much higher than that of belief, and the reliability is consistent with that of expected evidence. (3) in English academic papers, The author's identity is mainly reflected in the author's self and discourse self. Chinese writers pay more attention to the construction of discourse self, while foreign authors show more importance to author self. (4) the identity of the author is revealed by textual evidence. Evidentiary nature can help to build an author's identity in terms of authoritativeness and reliability. This study, involving semantics, applied linguistics and statistical science, is a cross-disciplinary exploration. This paper probes into the linguistic resources for the construction of author's identity, I. e., verbality, and reveals the cultural differences between Chinese and foreign scholars in their academic writing. I hope this paper can provide a new perspective for the textual research, and also provide some reference significance for the academic writers to form the consciousness of construction.
